Another year is here. So it’s time for our annual Nintendo Predictions! Put your brains on and join us as we try to guess what Nintendo will do next!
Check out last year’s predictions here to see how we did!
For Justin in 2022:
- Wii Sports follow-up announced
- Yes, Switch Sports announced
- New Fire Emblem announced (likely a remake of the original)
- 0.5 points, Fire Emblem Engage announced, but not a remake of its predecessor
- Xenoblade Chronicles 3 announced
- Yes, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was announced and released in 2022!
that is 2.5 points for Justin
For 2022 Trev:
- COVID-19 (and its variants) continues to lead to understandable game delays and inventory issues. Expect to see more DLCs and ports as a result.
- Yes, there were many delays in 2022
- Kirby and the Forgotten Lands is the best-selling game of the entire series!
- Yes, it’s now the best-selling game in the series!
- Wii Sports Resort is back. Switch Sports Resort? It’s an open world and offers traditional controls for Switch Lite players.
- 1 point (half of 2 points) because the game wasn’t an open world game like Go Vacation
that is 3.0 points for Treve
Trev and I didn’t do well this year — I think we’ve seen a lot of game developers still recovering in 2022. We hope 2023 brings more success to both Nintendo and our predictions😄🥳
Justin’s prediction
- Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will receive several updates throughout 2023, including DLC
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom sets new records for The Legend of Zelda series and Nintendo Switch games in general.
- The Pokémon Company presents a new trailer for the Detective Pikachu 2 video game
- Super Mario Bros. movie succeeds despite concerns over performances by various voice actors
- I know I’ve said this before, but I think 2023 will be the year we finally see the next piece of news for Nintendo’s hardware: the Switch Lite coming out in 2019 and an OLED model will be launched in 2021. Tracing his two-year cycle of hardware used by Nintendo during the Nintendo DS era, 2023 should be the year for his most successful system ever.
- Donkey Kong has been revealed to have a new design from the Mario movies.
- I’ve been expecting news of Metroid Prime 4 or the Metroid Prime Trilogy for a while, but I guess they didn’t want to talk about the trilogy until they told us something new about Metroid Prime 4. This year we will hear about both.
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will announce DLC this year, but new content may or may not be released in 2023.
- I haven’t predicted F-Zero for a while, why?
- The Nintendo Switch will become the third best-selling system of all time, surpassing the PS4 and Game Boy/Game Boy Color. Only behind Nintendo DS and PS2.
Wildcard*
- It’s been a while since the new Super Mario series was released, but we got to see new titles announced this year.
- The Simpsons Hit & Run will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2023. I think we’ll see a remastered version, or maybe a brand new Simpsons video game. It’s time!
Treve’s Prophecy
- With the sad closure of the Wii U and 3DS eShops on March 27th, we can see several releases arriving on the Switch in one form or another.
- After rolling out the Golf free addition, Switch Sports will get more updates in 2023. By the end of the year, continued sales will make it one of the top 15 best-selling Switch games.
- Will StarFox’s 30th anniversary be celebrated with a lot of jubilee? Probably not, but I predict we’ll see an update to the old game with a reworked control scheme on either the GameCube entry or zero. increase.
- To celebrate its first E3 since 2019, the Pure Nintendo team will once again welcome several staff members to the show, including new faces. Speaking of E3…
- Did you know it’s been over five years since Metroid Prime 4 was announced at E3 2017?
- We’ve (weirdly) seen a lot more in the mobile app than in the actual footage, so we’re predicting another delay for Pikmin 4. can do.
- Four years after its announcement, Detective Pikachu is finally coming to Nintendo Switch in 2023. Will we get any concrete information about the sequel to the movie?
- Pure Nintendo Podcasts will continue to grow and make several “best of” lists by the end of the year. Roger and Gemma celebrate with an even bigger amiibo collection.
- To celebrate the NES Remix’s 10th anniversary, Nintendo is releasing its long-awaited follow-up. Chunks of SNES games, N64 games, mashups, or more?
- If BOTW 2 releases in May, A Link Between Worlds HD will be Nintendo’s big Zelda game in Q4, ten years after the original landed on the 3DS.
Wildcard*
- With Mario Kart 8 DX getting so much DLC, Nintendo decided to celebrate Double Dash’s 20th anniversary by adding the option of two characters per vehicle.
- Pure Nintendo will either return to proper print or go up in flames of glory!
