The Last of Us and The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal is reportedly in talks to star in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator sequel. His role appears to be unknown at this time, but he was able to film a movie before returning as Joel in Season 2 of the HBO series.
deadline reports that final negotiations are underway for Pascal to join the Gladiator sequel. Stranger Things star Joseph Quinn was also in talks for the film, so he could be the second addition to the film within a day.
Aftersun actor Paul Mescal will star in Gladiator 2 as Lucilla’s son (replayed by Connie Neilson) and Commodus’ nephew, Lucious (originally played by Joaquin Phoenix) Denzel Washington also appears to have a key role in the sequel, re-teaming with Scott for the first time since American Gangster. Barry Keoghan (The Banshees of Inisherin) is also part of the star-studded cast.
Original Gladiator star Russell Crowe was jealous of the sequel and expressed excitement over Scott’s involvement.
Gladiator 2 is set to premiere on November 22, 2024. This has been over 24 years since the original.
