Some PlayStation players are now petitioning Trophies for PS4, PS5 Removed multiplayer requirements for platinum trophies in some games. Last month, a popular Reddit thread highlighted the plight of avid trophy hunters pointing to examples of single-player games being tacked on to multiplayer trophies that are often barred from the coveted platinum. Now they want action.
Players Claim PS4 and PS5 Trophies Shouldn’t Be Paywalled
Aside from server closures affecting trophies, players say multiplayer trophies in primarily single-player games are a bad idea because there’s basically a paywall. So anyone who wants their single player game to be platinum will have to buy a subscription if the game needs to be played online even for a single trophy.
“Of course, multiplayer games like Call of Duty and Battlefield always have multiplayer trophies,” he said. Change.org petition (via reddit) it probably goes nowhere. “But games like The Last of Us and Uncharted 4, which are primarily meant for offline use, require that his multiplayer trophies exist in parallel so that Platinum doesn’t affect his trophies.”
I hate to say it Sony is unlikely to see the petition, but the effort to get their attention is commendable.
