PixelJunk is back on PlayStation! This is Dylan Cuthbert, founder of indie studio Q-Games. We’re happy to announce that the frenzied party brawler, PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe, is coming to PlayStation. The game is set to launch on both PS5 and PS4 later this year.
The PixelJunk series of games recently celebrated its 15th anniversary. Excited to return to his PixelJunk spiritual home on PlayStation with an all-new entry in the series. We share the first trailer along with detailing what to expect at launch.
slam dunk junk
PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe combines the nostalgic excitement of traditional arcade brawlers with the multiplayer madness of couch co-op classics for a true hybrid experience. A side-scrolling tidying action focused on cleaning up the streets of Junktown. Literally by piling up trash, figuratively speaking, by wiping out waves of enemy robots. Garbage means cash on these streets, and the more items (and discarded enemies) you throw behind the garbage truck, the more you win.
We set out to create an amalgamation of fun gameplay that’s easy to pick up and play and hard to master. skills are required. You can choose to play with the help of the AI helper bot SCRAP, or share the fun with up to 4 players locally or online in cross-platform play.
As you progress, you’ll scrape against giant enemies, pile trash sky-high, and trash talk with friends along the way. From co-op missions to head-to-head challenges, mini-games to boss battles, no trip to Junktown is the same as his two. There’s also plenty of weapons to discover, a wide roster of Scrappers to recruit, and over 100 unique truck his parts to unlock.
Clean up the streets of Junktown
The Q-Games studio has lived in Kyoto for over 22 years, so it’s absolute to take inspiration from our favorite places and traditions and see them reflected in the in-game cyberpunk streets. It was a delight. There are over 25 levels exploring Junktown’s five tightly packed neighborhoods, each inspired by Japan’s eclectic sights and sounds.
The fourth area on the world map is Kawaii Kyoto. We actually went into town to pay tribute to the cherished local spots and traditions of the wider region. From the bamboo groves of Arashiyama to the garbage robots inspired by the traditional Japanese Awa Odori dance, the world’s design means a lot to us.
From everyone here at Q-Games, we look forward to welcoming you to Junktown to clean up the streets when PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe launches on PlayStation later this year.
Let’s Go Scrappers!
