2022 has been a big year for PS5 owners. A number of major console-exclusive titles have launched on the PlayStation platform this year, but several third-party developers have also beaten it out with massive releases across a wide variety of genres. There’s only one year for 2022, so here are PlayStation LifeStyle’s favorite games of the year.

10. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and its standalone expansion, The Lost Legacy, received current-gen treatment this year, boasting a number of PS5-specific additions that improve performance and visuals. Naughty Dog fans may be eagerly awaiting his Uncharted 5, but in the meantime, the Legacy of Thieves Collection provides the perfect excuse to relive two of his best entries in the series. He gave me
9. The Last of Us Part 1
Naughty Dog returns to arguably the best with The Last of Us Part 1, recreating the PS3 classic on PS5 and making many changes to suit the 2020 sequel. Everything from enemy AI to player movement to audio design has been overhauled and modernized for a whole new audience.
8. Shifuku
In 2022, few experiences were more satisfying than completing a level in Sifu. At just five stages long, Sifu may look like a short game on paper, but the real key to success in Slocap’s side-scrolling action is being able to complete it blindfolded. It is to master each stage until it becomes. With incredibly smooth combat across diverse and stylish environments, it’s not hard to feel the need to.
7. Ghostwire Tokyo
Ghostwire Tokyo takes players to the spooky open world of Shibuya. Shibuya has turned into a literal ghost town thanks to a spirit world wanderer who has taken life from its streets. Ghostwire didn’t reinvent the wheel of an open-world game, but being able to explore its beautiful city was a real pleasure, as was its unique supernatural combat.
6. Orioli World
The world is the skatepark of OlliOlli World. It combines the series’ addictive side-scrolling gameplay with a hub world ripped straight from Mario to deliver the biggest and best entry yet. OlliOlli World is set to receive more attention in 2022 than it ever did, as it took the most obvious problem with his previous OlliOlli games, an uninspired visual design and offered a pastel-colored universe. Worth it. This is a skateboarding game for the “study lofi hip hop beats” generation.
5. Gran Turismo 7
Gran Turismo Developer Polyphony Digital TRUE I love cars. This is evident throughout Gran Turismo 7, from the car history lessons you learn as you progress through the campaign, to the amazing attention to detail applied to each of the 400+ cars. GT7 was a petrolhead’s dream, and while the always-online gameplay and monetization caused some frustration, no other racing game on PS5 has been as impressive.
4. Horizon Forbidden West
Few game concepts are better than Horizon. A vibrant overgrown world populated by robotic dinosaurs that he slays in his sci-fi spin with primitive weapons. Building on everything that made Zero Dawn great with Forbidden West, developer Guerrilla Games didn’t spoil the winning concept. Its world is even more gorgeous, its combat is sophisticated, and its character designs are second to none.
3. Plague Story: Requiem
A Plague Tale: Requiem isn’t a fun adventure, but the dark tale of two young brothers traveling through plague-infested France is one of the year’s most engaging tales. Its stark medieval world serves as his setting for one of the most beautiful games we’ve played, and with the improved stealth in which players carefully avoid hordes of enemies and rats, this is the perfect match for any game. It is a sequel that improves on the previous work.
2. God of War Ragnarok
God of War Ragnarok is PS5’s 2022 blockbuster, a gigantic spectacle of gaming that begins amid world-ending events and ramps up the stakes from there. The 2018 reboot will continue the story of Kratos learning to be a good father despite his violent past. Now, with beings like Thor and Odin looming in the distance, the Ghost of Sparta and his son Atreus must also contend with their doomed future.
1. Elden Ring
Every time I play Elden Ring, I feel like I’m telling a story. From Software’s open world is full of discovery and exploration, so even after investing hundreds of hours, yet Discover new areas and enemies you never knew existed. This is a game of unparalleled depth and a true step up in a genre regularly accused of being stagnant. It is a work worth doing.
