Latios and Latias The Go Tour Hoenn will be added as a surprise to the weekend of the event Pokémon GO February 2023.
Any of these legendary Pokémon can be encountered in the wild depending on Ruby or Sapphire’s choice leading up to the weekend. By doing so, you can unlock bonus encounters in snapshots.
How to catch Latios or Latias in Pokémon GO this weekend
Selecting Ruby or Sapphire as part of the “Primal Rambling” Special Research will cause either Latios or Latias to appear in the wild during the Go Tour Hoenn event time.

From here they spawn in the wild. Similar to Galar’s Legendary Encounters as part of the Daily Incense, these are hard to catch and can run away after one toss. So aim to at least throw a Great Curveball and use Golden Raspberry to increase your chances.

Update (Feb 26th): Luminous Latios or Latias have been confirmed to spawn in the wild during the event.according to Players of the Silph Road subredditthey don’t escape, but are still hard to catch — there are dozens of reports of players using berries and balls first. If this happens to you, be persistent!
Latios or Latias photo safari research quest procedure and rewards
Depending on whether you choose Ruby or Sapphire in the Primal Rambling Special Research, you’ll get Latios or Latias Timed Research.

- Take a snapshot of a wild Latios (381 Stardust)
reward: Encounter with Latios, 10 Great Balls, 3,800 XP
Sapphire: Latias Photo Safari
- Take a snapshot of a wild Latias (Stardust 380)
- reward: Latias Encounter, Great Ball x10, 3,800XP
Other research during the Go Tour includes “Chasing Legends” (free for all players) and Masterwork: “Wish Granted” (a premium quest from the shop).
You can also complete research into the Creepy Code, battle Primal Kyogre and Groudon, and hatch local Torcor, Tropius, and Relicance.
