City of London Police have confirmed that: gta6 hackerAn unnamed 17-year-old was previously arrested and violated bail conditions. Law enforcement hasn’t released any details, but journalist Matthew Keys revealed that the teenager was involved in hacking into Microsoft and his Nvidia and was arrested earlier this year. The hacker said he was part of the Lapsus$ group and expected further arrests.

UPDATE: A 17-year-old boy arrested in Oxfordshire in cyberattacks on Rockstar and Uber has been confirmed to be the same teenager arrested for hacking Microsoft and Nvidia earlier this year. The young man belongs to a group called “Lapsus$”. Additional arrests are expected.

A statement yesterday from the FBI, which was also tracking the hackers, did not live up to initial expectations. Additional arrests were expected, according to Keys, suggesting the teenager (identified only as AK) was assisted. Nonetheless, the FBI’s statement is likely to follow with additional arrests.
Keys goes on to say that AK was the mastermind behind the recent Uber hack. The company confirmed something similar last week when a Rockstar Games hacker released a statement saying he was also involved in an Uber security breach. Police were able to identify the hackers because of similar attacks against Microsoft, Okta, and Nvidia. he remains in custody.

It is not yet known if AK was able to sell the GTA 5 source code. This is what he was selling before his identity was compromised, leading to him scraping his online presence. It remains to be seen if AK will go to jail this time because he has violated his bail conditions.
