Paleolithic farming sim Roots of Pacha is back on Steam after being unavailable for two weeks. The game was originally delisted by Valve following a legal dispute between publisher Crytivo and developer Soda Den. The lawsuit was supposedly started over a contractual clause in the publishing contract.
The resolution comes after the now former publishers Crytivo and Soda Den issued public statements. Via Twittersaid the two companies have decided not to cooperate further and the dispute has been resolved.
“Over the past two weeks, Crytivo and Soda Den have been working tirelessly to achieve our shared goal of restoring Roots of Pacha on Steam. We are happy to share that it has been restored to Steam in 2020. We also want to share that Crytivo and Soda Den have decided to part ways amicably on mutually beneficial terms,” said Crytivo and Soda Den. Soda Den said in a statement.
The controversy started a few weeks ago with a series of confusing statements after Roots of Pacha was delisted from Steam. Soda Den first said she was “working towards an amicable resolution”. [its] The developer claims that Crytivo approached Valve and “authorized the removal of Roots of Pacha from Steam” without the developer’s consent. Crytivo then claimed that Soda Den unilaterally withdrew the contract shortly after its release, effectively trying to terminate the contract. His 3-year co-operation period on the game and previous revenue sharing terms are disregarded.
Regarding removals from Steam, it is Valve’s standard policy to remove games from sale in the event of a legal dispute between the parties.
We really liked Roots of Pacha, so I’m glad the situation seems to have been resolved amicably. Contributor Andrea Shearon gave it an 88% rating in our review, writing that it “is a brilliant iteration of a genre famous for finding joy in the drab and the mundane.” On the other hand, our own Lauren Morton said, “Pacha’s ‘idea’ quests, explorable areas, and continuous flow of activities are deftly paced, delivering the irresistible charm of ‘just one more day’ to Stardew.” making it as powerful as
discoverable Steam: Roots of Pacha for $25.
