Sony quietly rolled out PS Portal system software update 4.0.1, which brings some unspecified performance improvements and good ol’ stability. However, players have already noticed some positive changes, including improved cloud streaming.
PS Portal system software update 4.0.1 patch notes (December 12, 2024)
Official patch notes for today’s PS Portal update are as follows:
- We’ve improved system software performance and stability.
- We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.
As for the unofficial patch notes, folks on Reddit have noted that they can now use the PS button on the handheld to pull up the menu rather than swiping. However, others have said that they are only able to use the PS button when cloud streaming. Players can also now exit cloud streaming via the Home button.
Speaking of cloud streaming, players have said that the update has fixed issues that they were experiencing when streaming certain games including Watch Dogs: Legion and Final Fantasy VII Remake. Some users were unable to start the games, but are now able to do so.
PS Portal’s direct cloud streaming is currently in beta, but has been widely praised by players. The feature runs well and allows users to bypass the PS5.
