As the PlayStation 5 console continues to evolve, we are excited to bring new features to the community. Today, we’re rolling out his next PS5 system software beta with many fan-requested features like Discord voice chat and variable refresh rate support for his 1440p resolution. We’re also introducing a variety of his UX, accessibility, and social enhancements that make playing with friends and gaming on his PS5 console easier than ever.
Invited beta participants from the US, Canada, Japan, UK, Germany and France will receive an email with instructions on how to download and start the beta. As with previous betas, some features may not make it to final version, or there may be significant changes when final system updates are released globally in the coming months.

- Join the Discord voice chat on your PS5 console. You can now join Discord voice chat on your PS5 console and easily chat with your friends on most other gaming platforms.To get started, link your Discord and PlayStation Network accounts from your PS5 console follow these steps*. Then start a Discord voice chat on your PS5 console using the Discord app on your mobile device or computer (make sure your Discord app is updated to the latest version). - Manually upload your game capture to the PlayStation app. Now you can manually select individual screenshots and game clips from your PS5 console, upload them to the PS app, and easily share them on social media and with friends. ** This feature complements the auto-upload functionality currently present in the PS app.

New gameplay and personalization options
- 1440p variable refresh rate support. You can now enjoy smoother visual performance when using VRR-enabled HDMI 2.1 displays at 1440p resolution and playing VRR-enabled games. ***
- We’ve also updated the parameters for our 1440p output test for PS5 consoles to support 1440p on a wider range of HDMI displays.

- Game library enhancements.
- You can now sort and filter games when adding them to your games list.
- You can easily find not only PS VR games, but also PS VR2 titles with PS VR2 launching later this month using the filters in our library.

- Game presets for multiplayer session settings. You can set preferences to manage who can join multiplayer sessions you create for supported games, and who can invite other players.

New accessibility and usability features
- Move save data from PS4 to PS5. There are two ways to make your PS4 save data easily accessible on your PS5 console:
- When you download or install a PS4 game on your PS5 console, you’ll see a notification that your PS4 save data is available on PlayStation Network cloud storage (if your PS5 console doesn’t already have save data for the game). Simply select the notification to download the saved data.
- If you download or install a PS5 game that can read PS4 save data, such as the PS5 version of a game that was also released on PS4, you will see the same notification (if the game supports this feature).

- Data transfer from PS5 to PS5. You can now easily transfer data on your PS5 console, including games, saves, user profiles, settings, screenshots, videos, etc. to another PS5 console using your local Wi-Fi network or LAN cable. You can transfer data during the initial setup of your PS5 console or later through the settings menu. This process will not delete or alter any data on your original PS5 console.

- Improved screen readers. Screen readers now provide more detailed guidance when navigating the console. It now shows the directions you can move from the currently selected component and your current position within a component that contains multiple items. Additionally, when viewing his webpage using a screen reader, a border now appears around the section being read.
- Wireless device update for DualSense wireless controllers. You can now update your DualSense wireless controller device software using a wireless connection. If you are unable to update your device software wirelessly, please connect your controller to your PS5 console using a USB cable to update. The next update will allow you to update wirelessly.
Game Capture Using Voice Commands (Preview): US & UK Exclusive Release
- Voice Commands can now save a video clip of your gameplay using your voice.
- Say “Hey PlayStation, capture it!” Save video clips of recent gameplay. The default length of time they are saved is based on your settings.
- You can also save a specific period of gameplay from 15 seconds to 60 minutes. For example, to save five minutes, say “Hey PlayStation, capture his last five minutes.”
- Manually start a new gameplay recording by saying “Hey PlayStation, start recording”. Then say “Hey PlayStation, stop recording” to end the recording and save the video clip.
- Voice Commands (Preview) is now available in English for beta participants with accounts registered in the US and UK.
