March 2023 Firmware Update Makes PS5 ‘Time Played’ More Visible
Earlier this week, Sony rolled out a major PS5 firmware update. As part of that, when a player hovers over a game tile or icon, the game’s playtime is displayed on his main dashboard. Fans quickly found the counter broken and disputed claims that connecting to PSN would make the counter more accurate.
I am always connected to PSN when playing games, including single player titles. According to Sony, I played Hogwarts Legacy for 9 hours, well below that. The system also shows that I’ve played 18 hours of his A Plague Tale: Requiem, which is also far from the time I actually played.
Interestingly, Sony’s year-end roundup during the PS4 era was also completely wrong when it came to displaying playtime.
It’s not a big deal for me personally, but it’s a little annoying to have inaccurate things staring at me.
