Pokemon fans are, as expected, pretty divided about the upcoming mainline titles Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Many embrace the game’s new open-world nature and the apparent freedom it gives players. However, some are disappointed that the game seems to be going backwards after Pokemon Legends: Arceus.
However, some fans have noticed a very specific change to one of the creatures featured in the trailer. Eelektross is the final form of Tynamo introduced in Pokémon Black and White.
As Automaton reported, Eelektross garnered praise for his intimidating appearance, starting out standing upright for Sprite in Generation V. However, when Game Freak traveled to his 3D realm with Pokémon X and Y, Electros was changed to float in the air. This likely indicates its ability to levitate and resistance to ground attack. observation:
Given Game Freak’s fondness for duplicating assets from X and Y onwards, Eelektross hasn’t changed its stance since then. This bothered fans who preferred their appearance in Black and White. However, Scarlett and Violet’s appearance in the latest trailer appears to show Eelektross standing upright again, so that’s apparently about to change.
Fans were quick to notice the change, too, and expressed their excitement on Twitter.
A small change, admittedly, but a welcome change for longtime fans! You can see a new portrayal of Electros in the new trailer below. Appears at approximately the 1:53 mark.
What do you think about this apparent change to Eelektross? Are you excited? Didn’t you care too much? tell us!
