Hello, my name is Tommy Lephenes. You may remember me from games like Super Meat Boy and Super Meat Boy Forever. We are happy to announce that the world of meatboys will be returning to PlayStation later this year in the form of a new title, Dr. Fetus’ Mean Meat Machine.
Meatboy has enough games (for now). It’s time for Dr. Fetus to become a star. Dr. Fetus’s Mean Meat Machine takes place right after the events of Super Meat Boy Forever (more precisely, right after the ending and before the post-credits scene). Dr. Fetus wants to clone Meat Boy and needs to remove all poor clones from the gene pool in order to create a pure and perfect killable Meat Boy. What will Dr. Fetus do with his never-ending supply of Meat Boys…well…probably another time.
Buzz saws, lasers, missiles and other dangerous objects
What this really means is a Puyo Puyo-style match-4 puzzle game with a unique hardcore twist thanks to the ingenious gimmicks of the villainous Dr. Fetus. As you’re trying to build combos with color-coded clones at the bottom of the screen, you’ll have to deal with buzzsaws, missiles, and a host of other hazards ready to destroy your clones if you don’t play. The precision that the Super Meat Boy series has always sought. In other words, what we’re doing with Dr Fetus’s Mean Meat Machine Machine is bringing the hardcore challenge that Meat Boy is known for: creating a unique blend of puzzle and action gameplay. .
The origin of this game lies in a long-standing relationship between Team Meat and friends at Headup. We’ve worked together in various capacities for almost 12 years and we love them. We were pretty busy with the launch of Super Meat Boy Forever when they approached us with the idea for this match-4 puzzle game, but after that was over, we sent their pitch and prototype to Look, fell in love again. We blend their design and programming skills (mainly Niko Panagiotopoulos and Mark Aldrup) with our art and design skills, and if it weren’t for their amazing prototypes and desire to build, we wouldn’t even consider building them. No, I got this terribly fun and beautiful puzzle game. something new and wonderful.
it’s time to enjoy dying again
The game has over 100 hand-crafted levels filled with hazards and traps that will test your finger reflexes as well as your puzzle brain. This is a Meat Boy Universe game, so expect to die over and over again. When you finally die enough, your skills become second nature and you start beating levels with just a simple breath. You will feel…whole. At that point you have to fight a boss who will kill you over and over. It’s so much fun and so cute!
If you’re already a Meat Boy fan, thank you first. Then Dr. Fetas Mean Meat his machine has a lot to please you. Familiar Super Meat Boy and Super Meat Boy His Forever locations abound, including picturesque forests, hospitals and salt factories. All of which feature stunning backgrounds, animations, and cutscenes created by the original He artist of Super Meat Boy Forever. It also has a great soundtrack created by the talented Ridiculon.
It’s fun to see Meatboy heading in new directions, working with a team that has shown us the potential of a series that never crossed our minds. A game that exists in the genre, but at the same time is different from other games in that genre. The move to inject Super Meat Boy’s hardcore DNA into a match-4 puzzle game was a move most people didn’t anticipate (when Headup originally bought the idea!). But trust me, it’s a crazy enough idea to work, and when the game hits PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 later this year, try Dr. Fetus’ twisted test chamber for yourself. I can’t wait to be able to survive.
