I’m not reviewing AEW: Fight Forever with a vast knowledge of modern wrestling games. Developer Yuke’s Co. has created some of the more popular WWE games, but I’ve never played them. Wouldn’t it be better to compare Fight Forever to Intellivision? Body slam!super pro wrestling or NES wrestlingboth I offal played extensively? Perhaps at another time and place.
But I am an avid fan of All Elite Wrestling. So if you want to see how AEW: Fight Forever compares to his previous Pro Wrestling video games, go back to Metacritic and click again. If you’re just an AEW fan like me and want to see how fun it is to be All Elite and play against your favorite (or not-so-favorite) wrestler, let’s talk.
We’ll start by looking at the active roster, which will soon include nearly 50 wrestlers. For example, some options such as Yuka Sakazaki and Lance Archer are almost nonexistent anymore, which shows that the game has been in development for quite some time. And then there’s Cody Rose, who’s in another league now. Of course some of the new talent can’t join, but wrestlers like Claudio Castagnoli and Jamie Hayter have been around long enough to be included. Of course, the DLC will certainly address their absence, but considering Matt Hardy (Hardy’s?) costs his $4.99, and FTR Tag his pack costs his $11.99, it’s a preference Stable construction can be expensive.
That being said, there are enough wrestlers out there to keep fans entertained, and I think most people will just choose between new wrestlers going forward.
Players will likely be experimenting with different wrestlers early on, as their abilities and move sets determine their usability. Young He’s certainly fun to fly around the ring like Bucks or Lucha his brothers, but if you’re new to this type of fighting game where mastering striking and grappling is more important, it can be difficult. . He had greater success when he faced down-to-earth, physical wrestlers like Milo and Chris Statlender, and used them to build his skill and confidence.
AEW: This is important because there’s a lot to learn to get better at Fight Forever. Of course, you can pick up the game and start fighting right away. It has a difficulty level designed to help even inexperienced players win, and playing with others at your own level gives you quality practice time. but, TRUE To enjoy this game, you’ll need to master the moves and counters of your preferred wrestler, apply signs and finishers, and get a feel for the strategy to completely exhaust your opponent before aiming for the pin.
There are also training options to get there, but they aren’t very fun. Instead, I played as many matches as possible, knowing that I would lose a lot. Singles, Tag Team, Three-Way, Ladder Matches, Right Out Matches and almost every type of match an AEW fan could want is here. There is also a casino battle royale, although it doesn’t work like the real thing. New wrestlers only join after other wrestlers have been eliminated, possibly due to technology limitations.there is also success A version of the infamous barbed wire explosion deathmatch. And while there’s no talk of Mimosa mayhem, the stadium stampede is coming. This creates an online 30-player battle royale of sorts that should be as outrageous as the COVID-era event that inspired it. Horse? pool? full at the bar? Let’s see.
Of course, all of this is more fun in multiplayer, both locally and online, when you have opponents with similar skill levels. For single-player action, keep an eye out for the game’s clever story mode, Road to Elite. Here you can choose a wrestler on the roster or create your own wrestler to make his year on the AEW roster.
Considering all the options, creating your own wrestler can take an hour or more. wrestling attire, street attire, physique, tattoos, entrance music (“Brooklyn the Hall”, but not Maki Ito herself), entrance poses, and a host of other options that are a bit awkward to get through. Previous choices may disable the next option without making it clear. The magnitude of wrestling tricks is best left alone until you understand exactly what it is and when and how it is best used by which type of wrestler. After bringing Here Comes Hiner to life, I never bothered to use him. Instead, we featured actual wrestlers through Road to the Elite. Ultimately, we’re going to redo Here Comes and give him the ride he deserves.
Road to Elite isn’t very long, but it does a great job of pushing players through different types of matches and different backstage “skits”. Some of this is already obsolete. AEW Dark still here and not collision at this point. These matches will earn you points and his AEW Cash, which you can use to enhance your wrestler or unlock other items (like historic videos and the beloved Aubrey Edwards). You can also earn points and cash by playing weird mini-games and participating in daily/weekly challenges.
As you can see, there’s a lot to do in AEW: Fight Forever.is like an episode of be elite and dynamite AEW fans will feel at home in that tone and anything-goes attitude. But unfortunately there are some issues, most of them within the ring. Foreign objects often cause strange visual glitches during matches. The Switch has trouble maintaining frame rates, especially during online play and in handheld mode. Load times can use picture-in-picture to keep us engaged. The sparsely used commentary is strangely confusing and often inaccurate (although the dialogue written during story segments can be quite funny).
Combined with everything that’s going on here, AEW: Fight Forever is a disjointed but compelling wrestling game that masterfully exemplifies what AEW is all about. Its approach to backstage antics will disgust some wrestling game purists, and user reviews suggest that many will criticize it simply because E stands for elite rather than entertainment. “Pro wrestling fans” will hate this game. Still, the action is varied and fun (despite its glitches), and the game strives to keep you immersed while improving your skill set. Having someone to play with is all good, but if you focus on getting the best out of your impressive roster, you should be able to keep single players entertained until the inevitable follow-up is released.
