Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a gift that continues to be given this year. The latest round of DLC arrived just in time for Christmas. Perfect for a fall and Christmas themed truck driven holiday. More importantly, it’s a fun good time and an essential addition to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s already impressive roster.
The third wave of the Booster Course Pass introduced two new cups: Rock and Moon. Rock cups are symbolized by fungi that look like stones. Expect rock mushroom powerups in Mario’s next platforming adventure. Mooncup, on the other hand, is a reminder that it’s been far too long since Super Mario Odyssey graced the modest Switch.
The new track primarily favors handheld Mario Kart titles. In fact, all but two come from GBA to mobile and everything in between handheld devices. Given its hybrid nature, it makes for a fun collection that fits perfectly on the Switch. An added bonus for
Another theme in this pack is the introduction of Chomp Chomps. These giant balls of roaring rage show up again and again. It might have been named the Chomp Chomp Cup (something I hope to see in the future).
Let’s analyze the eight new elements added to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

London Loop (Mario Kart Tour)
As expected from the Booster Course Pass series, Rock Cup opens on the Mario Kart Tour track. In this case, it’s inspired by another real-life city: jolly old London. The London Loop is a fun and frenetic ride past famous sites like Trafalgar Square, Westminster Bridge and St. Paul’s Cathedral. You can also see the old red telephone box, the London Eye, cloudy skies and lots of chom choms. On the third lap, you can also freely roam the course. In short, it’s great.
Boo Lake (GBA)
Boo Lake is probably my favorite in the collection. I liked Ghost’s house-themed track, which goes back to the days of the original Super Mario Kart. Boo Lake feels like those courses. GBAs tend to benefit the most from updated visuals, often looking very different due to technological improvements since 2001. This track is no exception, almost unrecognizable in this new HD format. It has underwater elements, a sloping boardwalk, and a fun Boo-themed background. With tight turns, split paths and undulating jumps, Boo Lake is a lot of fun.
Alpine Mountain/Rock Rock Mountain (3DS)
Well, here’s an interesting fact. This course has different names depending on the region. Alpine Mountains in my part of the world. This classic 3DS track is full of undulations, and there’s nothing more satisfying than seeing how far you can soar over those mountains. The first cave is full of bats, the steep slope at the end features more rolling rocks than in an Indiana Jones movie, and the lush trees in the middle section provide the perfect backdrop for a day of kart racing To do.
Maple Tree Way (Wii)
This is my second favorite track. I love it on my Wii and this updated version is perfect. It feels great to pull off that sharp left turn, collect all the coins and then shoot down and race through the giant tree is. I love the addition of the half-pipe style wall jump, but Tony he blows Hawk high enough to make him proud (you’ll find out when you play). This is a breakneck speed track surrounded by an autumn canopy of maple trees. This might actually be my favourite!

Berlin Byways (Mario Kart Tour)
This is another great addition to our roster of city-based trucks. Get a stunning view of the German city as you pass famous landmarks such as the Berlin Cathedral and the Brandenburg Gate. This exciting track features his Whomps and Thwomps who are about to get crushed as he maneuvers through the city for an addictive and chaotic race.
Peach Gardens (DS)
This track has a fun twist. On the third lap, he was suddenly forced to run in the opposite direction and ran into an oncoming vehicle against the tide. If you’re far enough forward, you’ll encounter Slowpoke head-on as you scratch your head to remember the trail behind. In fact, running backwards and backwards is very chaotic. You can also take a pleasant stroll through Peach’s Garden, which features flower beds, giant character-shaped hedges, and roaming chop chops.
Merry Mountain (Mario Kart Tour)
This Christmas themed course is an absolute blast to play. The timely release is perfect for the seasonal spirit of traveling through a Christmas village surrounded by snowy mountains. It features quaint cobbled streets, giant presents on the sides, and a flying Christmas train. Meanwhile, candy canes act as utility poles and candles are lined up along the snowy trails of the mountains, creating a fun experience.
Rainbow Road (3DS)
This version of Rainbow Lord is inspired by Super Mario Galaxy, with planets to land on and star jumps to boost. This gorgeous truck is surrounded by stars, but don’t let its beauty fool you. After all, it’s the Rainbow Road, and the twists, turns, and jumps in barrier-free multicolored lanes keep your heart pounding the whole time.
If you haven’t had a chance to play new tracks, it’s a simple process. The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass is available for purchase with his one-time payment of $24.99. With 3 waves now available, 24 additional tracks are available. If you’re a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscriber, these courses are already included in that package.
Mario Kart has long been the king of kart racing. These latest additions help make this title even better, with stunning visuals and engaging gameplay that will make you smile every time. That’s all.
And with five more track sets set to be released next year, the king of kart racers shows no signs of giving up.
