Every 3-6 months for the past two years, we’ve been getting updated content for the popular Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Well, the 5th wave of Booster Course Path has arrived with his penultimate update for this game. Let’s see if that hits the mark again.
As usual, I noticed that there were two sets of four tracks. Wave 5 offers Feather Cup and Cherry Cup, plus he gets two classic Mario icons. We can only hope that these new trophy types will reappear in future franchise entries.
The DLC packs three Mario Kart Tour tracks, two Wii tracks, and one GameCube and Game Boy Advance track. This leaves us with one brand new entry, which is always a pleasant surprise. A great combination with lots of fast-paced developments to keep the drivers competitive at their best.
Music is another highlight. Each track has a unique feel, with different arrangements that add depth to an already impressive interface. This makes Mario Kart His Deluxe more than just a visual experience, with the soundtrack making the gameplay even more immersive.
Let’s take a closer look at the new cup and each track within it.

Athens Dash (Mario Kart Tour)
The course debuted in Mario Kart Tour earlier this year and is now coming to Switch. We will guide you through the streets of the Greek capital with its pillars, fountains and Indiana Jones-like rolling rocks. After all, Athens was built on a hill, and according to Greek mythology, the goddess Athena dropped a stone while walking in front of her. History lessons aside, this race is full of quaint clay houses and alternating paths to keep you on your toes.
daisy cruiser (Mario Kart Double Dash)
It’s always nice to welcome a new Double Dash truck, but it’s something that most DLC’s haven’t had before. This classic course is set on board a cruise ship and features fast-paced sections above and below deck. Dining room furniture moves across the floor even while guests are seated. Meanwhile, Goomba is sleeping peacefully in the top deck pool. A branching passageway takes you around the ship and even into a flooded area where giant clams live.
Tsukimi Highway (Mario Kart Wii)
Derived from the smash hit Wii, this truck takes drivers to highways through chaotic traffic, toll booths and tunnels. Lots of twists and turns, so watch out for giant bomb cars. One of the most fun aspects is power sliding across the dash panel to boost your main road to victory. Yes, this is about need for speed. There is also a bright moon shining high in the sky to prove your driving prowess.
squeaky clean sprint (new)
It’s always nice to have a new truck join us, but this bathroom set course is full of surprises. This is one of those courses with a lot going on, with a colorful background dotted with interesting objects. Did you see the engagement ring thrown down the drain? Bath bombs, sponges, towels, slippery soapy surfaces, tennis balls, cans of soft drinks (for whatever reason), and more. The toilet is also a highlight, with squirts of water on the second and his third laps. Float up and to the right to find one of the many shortcuts. In short, this new release will undoubtedly be the highlight of this wave for many fans.

Los Angeles lap (Mario Kart Tour)
Oh City of Angels! It was only a matter of time before this real-world truck entered the world of Mario Kart. In Los Angeles, we are treated to stints on the beach, races on the streets, and even trips through what we believe to be oil fields. Is LA known for oil? Apparently it used to be, and this raceway alludes to LA’s history as an oil city. Either way, this is another fast-paced journey that blends our world with that of Mario, and it looks and plays very well.
sunset wild (Mario Kart Super Circuit)
When you see Game Boy Advance stuff coming to Mario Kart, you know something special is waiting. These tracks are most notable from a recreational point of view translating 16-bit style into a contemporary aesthetic. Sunset Wild is no exception, offering spectacular views despite the muddy surroundings. Oddly enough, the sun doesn’t set below the horizon like it did in the original version. Still, the puddles glisten in the dim sunlight as the shy guys roam after a day of mining. Someone should really tell them to get off the road.
Cape Bowser (Mario Kart Wii)
This water truck crosses flowing rivers dotted with giant seashells. You’ll also be taken to an underwater section where you’ll navigate through clear tubes as Cheep Cheeps float majestically. Eventually, one of his giant eels smashes through the glass, causing chaos reminiscent of Jaws 3. Cape Bowser is a reminder of why the Wii has become such a popular series. fun trails.
vancouver velocity (Mario Kart Tour)
This journey through the streets of Vancouver is a visual treat packed with Easter eggs. Some are obvious like a hockey rink complete with Skate Shy Guy, while others are more subtle Canadian cues like autumn trees. The seasons seem to change during the race, and beautiful snowy areas also appear. The audio is outstanding here too, with a beautiful orchestral approach.
overall impression
Wave 5 delivers all the fun and racing thrills you’ve come to expect from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Both visually and aurally captivating, it brings fans a great mix of old and new races. In other words, another hit for his fan-favorite racing title.
