This is annoying. I love Mario Kart. I also love Nickelodeon shows, especially Spongebob He likes square pants. The two combinations must match exactly. Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway has elements of fun, but it doesn’t hit the mark.
Let’s start with the positive. The roster expanded in this third outing of his, joining his 40 characters from across the Nickelodeon universe. Rocko’s Modern Life’s Wallaby he was impressed to find more obscure characters like Rocko and Invader Zim’s alien Zim. Other notable representations include shows like Ren and Stimpy, Hey Arnold!, Spongebob Squarepants (unsurprisingly), and Rugrats (with Tommy and Angelica suspiciously absent). Note that most characters are unavailable from the start and can only be obtained by completing courses and purchasing them via rewards.
It is also a highlight that the character will appear in full voice this time. This is a big improvement and missing in previous entryWhat’s even more impressive is that the voices belong to real actors from the comics, including Billy West of Futurama fame, who returns as both Ren and Stimpy. works better than other voices. It’s great to have these Legends back, but my only problem is that they get abused occasionally. There is a possibility that
Graphically, the game works flawlessly. It’s colorful enough, with 36 tracks across all sorts of bizarre terrain based on the show. But the background feels flat and a little muddy, like Plankton is involved in a nefarious plan to suck life out of Bikini Bottoms or something.
Instead there is no plot. Kart Racer doesn’t need it, of course, but Mario Kart doesn’t. Since when have TMNT and Garfield coexisted? It should be really nice to see these unique cartoonish things mashed together and it’s more of a shame it doesn’t work. Mainly due to performance issues.
Cart handling is subpar. I’ve been playing Mario Kart ever since.. well, forever.. Nickelodeon’s rides in comparison treat it like a shopping cart. increase. But they all handle the same, turns a little too late and the steering seems off. In short, controlling them is not easy. The frame rate is useless and drops out heavily. This is a real shame for him in 2022. I know the Switch isn’t the most powerful system, but Mario Kart can do it. Heck, even Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 can do it. Hopefully future patches will fix some of these issues as well.
I was surprised that the game weighed a whopping 5.8 GB, so if you go with the digital version, give your Switch some headroom. It also costs a hefty $49.99. That’s a lot of money for a B-grade version of Mario Kart. On sale, this is worth much more.
Overall, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3 is a mediocre version of Mario Kart. It tries to keep it fresh and we’ve seen a few smiles along the way but the presentation and gameplay are simply not perfect Sloppy frames You may find enjoyment in
