Episode 1 of Servant Season 4 begins with a time skip. Sean’s hit Gourmet her Gauntlet TV show Gordon adopted her Ramsay persona to become her hit smash, and Leanne, who came home, happened to be cooking. She heads to her car and after picking her flowers, she suspects she is being watched and returns home again.Paranoia, she locks the door.
Unfortunately she is not alone. A suspicious man happened to be in the house, but after thwarting his threat and getting outside, Leanne found herself surrounded by men. I hid in my car.
The others disperse while Leanne sends a message to Roscoe. It turns out that every homeless man has been hauled out of the park and taken away, leaving her, and therefore the Turner family, unprotected.
As Leanne attempts to flee the car, a nearby hot dog vendor appears and begins attacking her. Leanne stabs the man in the neck and a runner near her gets involved and splashes hot water in Leanne’s face.
Leanne rushes back to her car again, but leaves her phone down and is stuck alone… until she bangs her horn furiously, dispersing everything.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t end there. A black car stops full of shadowy figures, one of whom presses his face against the window and tells Lean he needs to get back. It’s clearly “what’s best for all of us.”
When all the other figures return and block the exhaust pipes causing the smoke to pollute the air inside the car, Rian escapes and manages to control an entire flock of pigeons to start attacking the pigeons outside. In fact, it even pokes a man’s eyeballs.
After the attack, Rian begins cleaning up the mess in the house after the villains leave. She burns her cooking and she ruins the return of Dorothy, who is still alive but confined to her wheelchair. She hasn’t even spoken to her Leanne, and even Sean is completely unaware of her presence. Dorothy may get better if she continues her physical therapy, but Julian is unsure if she will recover.
As for the house, it looks like more cracks are coming from the basement to the outside, leaving ominous signs for future episodes.
episode review
The Servants return with an interesting season opener, this time causing major conflict within and outside the Turner family. Dorothy is back, but clearly not in the mood for much chatter, especially after last season’s incident on the stairs.
But at the same time, there are also problems outside the house, most notably the situation involving cults and those who want to go back to Lean.
The whole chapter is pretty action-packed, and this season actually feels more urgent and puts the central mystery into perspective. This is good.
It’s too early to make any judgments on this though, so we’ll have to wait and see what’s in store for us next.
