There’s been a lot of discussion about what Chris Pratt will sound like as Mario in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. movie, but what will Donkey Kong’s voice sound like?
In an interview with Comicbook.com, DK’s voice actor, Seth Rogen, admitted that he had no voice and only used his regular voice for Donkey Kong. Like Mario, there was no real back-and-forth about what to do with DK’s voice.
Seth Rogen: “I was very clear. It was the beginning and the end of the conversation. You wish Donkey Kong sounded like me.I’m your man. What you know about Donkey Kong in movies and games is that he throws barrels And I think it’s just that I don’t really like Mario.”
You can actually hear Rogen as Donkey Kong in one of the recent trailers. That’s true. Sounds like Seth Rogen.
Regarding Mario’s relationship with DK, Rogen described it as “hostile” and said that DK would probably be better off going on his own adventures, so he thought the tie-wearing gorilla was “”Mario.
Joining Rogen and Pratt are Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and many other talents. There will also be a “Special Voice Appearance” by Mario video game voice actor Charles Martinet.
