The age of magic is over, the age of war has arrived conan exiles. This new update will consist of three separate chapters for him, with each chapter bringing all the new features, improvements and content to the game.
Age of War Chapter 1 launches today, with a new system for collecting treasure and crafting your own banners, along with significant changes to combat balance.
Stun and stamina changes
Designers make games fun by challenging your way of doing things. Challenges include any type of gameplay that blocks progress. Like boss enemies with coveted loot, or long wall climbs with few rest points along the way. The closer you get to a tipping point where you can barely overcome the difficulties, the more satisfying the feeling of victory. You may also have heard game designers refer to this concept as “risk and reward” or “squeeze and release.” This is included with every game you play.
A few years ago we gave NPCs short-term immunity to stuns. This is because if an enemy is attacked by multiple players, they will not get a chance to act and will be stunlocked to death. This system was intended to give the enemy a combat turn.
This “stun break” system felt inconsistent in combat, so we decided to remove it. Instead, we want to introduce “squeeze and release” naturally and predictably.
Enemies can no longer defy the stun rule. Most of the enemies you’ll be fighting in the update are vulnerable to stuns, and only certain high-difficulty enemies are immune to stuns. To give enemies their turn in battle, they are effectively stunned when their stamina runs out and they are unable to attack or evade.
Stamina has been rebalanced to achieve these natural turns during combat. I had to increase the stamina cost of my attacks to create a brief moment where I couldn’t act but the enemy could.
Don’t worry, you will never run out of stamina. Stamina now regenerates much faster.
Enemies, Weapons, Repairs
We want you to feel like a warrior who can cut off heads and limbs when enemies attack. When fighting a small number of enemies, you’ll need to use some skill to interweave attacks to avoid or block them. For difficult encounters, you need to plan your approach.
In order to achieve this, the damage dealt to the enemy is increased, increasing the danger of a successful attack. At the same time, we have reduced the health of most enemies. This should make combat quicker and more action-packed.
Additionally, we have made significant changes to weapons. Each time you upgrade your weapon, for example from stone to iron, or iron to steel, you’ll see a much more noticeable increase in power. You’ll also find new items that are more powerful than those you can craft. This introduces a new item type called Unique Items. Unique items are similar to those you can already craft, but come with additional power spikes.
Legendary weapons are now at the top of their power piles, no doubt more powerful than their epic and unique counterparts, but they also come with new drawbacks as Legendary items can no longer be repaired. I have.
Other items now lose their maximum durability when repaired, and items no longer last forever, creating a new incentive to return to the world for powerful items.
Age of War’s changes are aimed at making combat feel more consistent and more dynamic for everyone, with additional changes coming in Chapters 2 and 3. Much improved loot, a revamped purge, and all-new PvE sieges to attack NPC strongholds, just to name a few.
