The Bloober Team is one of the teams with the most passionate suggestions. They are a studio that truly loves and specializes in horror games. Together with the creators who love Silent Hill, we decided to remake Silent Hill 2 for fans who have a special feeling for Silent Hill. blue bar team.
Classic reborn
Silent Hill 2 is a beloved and enduring classic. It’s almost a cliché to say it out loud, but it’s really true for many of his members on the Bloober team. This is also why we approach the remake with the utmost care and respect for the original game.
With that in mind, one of our main goals was to maintain the atmosphere that made Silent Hill 2 so great while modernizing many aspects of gameplay throughout the game. We work closely with original creators like Akira Yamaoka and Masahiro Ito to keep the unique Silent Hill feel intact.
One of the new elements seen in the reveal trailer is the adoption of an over-the-shoulder camera. With this change, we hope to make players more immersed in the game, feel like they are part of this surreal world, and provide a more intuitive experience across the board.
One change often leads to another. We’re rebuilding the combat system and certain setpieces in particular from a new perspective. Now that we basically know what James sees, we can find new ways to keep players on edge.
It’s been 21 years since Silent Hill 2’s release for PlayStation 2, but a giant leap in technology has brought it even closer in at least some aspects to how Team Silent wanted to bring the game back to life in 2001. Lumen is a fully dynamic global illumination solution that instantly reacts to scene and light changes. This means that lights interact realistically with the environment, just like they do in the real world. In this way, the entire game environment is lit more naturally. Nanite technology, on the other hand, is a great tool for level designers. With it, you can create incredibly detailed worlds and more realistic environments that look almost real.
What’s new on PS5
It’s not just graphics. Much of Silent Hill’s disturbing atmosphere comes from its music and sound design. Thanks to his 3D audio feature on PS5, players can determine exactly where the sound is coming from. The WWise sound engine creates realistic and believable soundscapes that help players feel like they’re really inside the game.
Of course, we haven’t forgotten the DualSense controller either. We already showed in our previous title, The Medium, that you can get pretty creative with haptic feedback and adaptive his triggers. We’ll bring more new ideas to Silent Hill 2, but we’ll leave the surprises aside for now.

The revival of the Silent Hill series doesn’t end with Silent Hill 2. We have announced multiple titles with completely new stories as well as remakes of past classics. Creating a new game is what truly brings the franchise back to life.
We will be creating new games for the series, not just with people involved in Silent Hill, but with creators who love the series. Together with series-loving teams around the world, we will expand our partnerships and expand the world of Silent Hill.
