You can probably guess why that particular date was chosen.
It’s Sonic’s 30th anniversary and his collection gets even bigger on the 32nd.
Sega has announced the release of a “plus” edition of Sonic Origins on June 23rd, a radical expansion on the classic Sonic compilation released in June 2022. New additions include:
- 12 Sonic-universe Game Gear games (Sonics 1, 2, Chaos, Triple Trouble, Blast, Labyrinth, Spinball, Drift, Drift 2 plus Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Tails’s Adventure, Tails Sky Patrol)
- Knuckle playable on Sonic CD
- Amy Rose playable on Sonics 1/2/3/CD
The Sonic Origins Plus pack will be available starting June 23rd with a suggested retail price of $39.99. That’s the suggested retail price for the existing release, so the original will likely be discontinued digitally. Early buyers can upgrade him for $9.99 or equivalent. The physical edition includes the artbook, reversible cover, and all previous downloadable content.
