Sony’s Santa Monica Studios may have just shipped God of War: Ragnarok, but it doesn’t appear to be planning to slow down thanks to multiple projects in the works.
speak to los angeles timesSanta Monica creative director Corey Verlog said the studio is now “spreading out on a lot of things,” possibly including projects that moved on after leaving God of War.
However, it is unclear what exactly these projects are, as Barlog refused to provide anything. Santa Monica also has an external development team that publishes 3rd party games (like Hohokum and Twisted Metal) which can also be included in the above projects..
That said, Santa Monica has over 200 employees, most of whom are likely working on Ragnarok, but the long-awaited sequel is about a month away from its November 9th launch. completed before.
This was last week, so Santa Monica hasn’t announced what’s next yet, but there may be at least one or two major game projects in the works.
One such game could be the next God of War, but Santa Monica makes it very clear that the Norse story that began in the 2018 iteration ended with Ragnarok.
