Square Enix, along with Harvestella this year, is incorporating a unique spin and visual style into the ever-popular genre of life sims and agricultural games.Harvestella, a combination of farming, exploration and action role-playing combat, looks like Square Enix’s answer to Rune Factory. “Live a self-sufficient life based in a vibrant home and work with your peers to overcome various threats,” the official explanation said.
The twist, of course, must be a twist, so Harvestella has five seasons. The Quietus, the season of death, also exists. The fifth season “comes with the changing seasons. The plants die. People can’t even walk outside because of the dust of death that fills the air. And every year, the Quietus lasts longer and longer.”
Much of the journey is funded and made possible by what you grow on your farm. Materials such as wood and wool created are used in crafting equipment, and produce enables effects such as status boost and health recovery. You can switch between three classes in battle: Fighter, Mage, and Shadowwalker.
