The A remake of the Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Aspyr Media has reportedly faced serious problems after dismissing two project directors. Apparently, the Star Wars KOTOR remake has now been postponed indefinitely, and developers are looking for new contracts and development opportunities.
The delay in Star Wars KOTOR remake is amazing
Star Wars KOTOR Remake was developed on Aspyr Media for almost three years before being postponed indefinitely.according to Bloomberg, Aspyr showed a vertical slice demo of the game to Lucasfilm and Sony, who were happy with the progress of the game and believed that the project was achieving their goals. A week later, Aspyr fired design director Brad Prince and art director Jason Minor, an unexpected decision. Sources have since claimed that the Aspyr studio manager himself wasn’t happy with the progress of the game and was spending too much time and money.
The fate of the game is now doubtful. Aspyr employees say the company is currently looking for new contracts and development opportunities, and Star Wars KOTOR Remake is on hold indefinitely. Saber Interactive was brought in to help with the game, and some Aspyr employees want Saber to take over the development of the project altogether. In any case, the game will never reach the original release window at the end of 2022. As development continues, 2025 will be a more accurate release window. Both Aspyr Media and its parent company, Embracer, declined to comment.
Other news reports that Sony is “really interested” in the acquisition of Square Enix Japan, but it was sold at a low price because it was not interested in Western studios. Elsewhere, Sony has seen early on the PSVR2 user experience, including a customizable playspace.
