“We wanted to make this mode more like an arcade game rather than a horror game,” explains Jaszanovits.
As a level designer, Jaszanovits’ goal was to create an environment where the player could flee from room to room while feeling surrounded and constantly pursued by enemies. “We tried to remove or adjust gameplay elements that slowed players down,” he says.
Greene adds: “Our goal was to have a simple and interesting gameplay loop, but also have the secondary value of allowing players to come up with new strategies over multiple play sessions. Multiple different systems have emerged that empower players over time and allow them to find their own style and power in waves of the infected.”
Riot mode features enemy behavior and wave configurations that keep players on alert. As you progress through the game, you’ll have to adapt your strategy to overcome new challenges.
