Steam’s interface is about to change again (or has already changed if you’re using the Steam Client Beta). I’ve had enough site design changes in my life that it won’t feel like much longer. However, Valve made the already bad Screenshot Manager window worse and ruined my week with him.
valve released an update I accessed Steam’s interface with the Steam Beta client last week and was initially pleasantly surprised. While I’m generally obsessed with the new look, I’ve also noticed that my oft-used Screenshot Manager window (previously Screenshot Uploader) is finally a little more to my liking. For years, until the update, it looked like this:
It was a little clunky and ugly, but what I actually used was to hit the dropdown menu, find the game, then hit the “show on disk” button to actually view those screenshots in my file explorer. Then this week I updated the client and the first reaction was “Oh, that sounds great!”
I was happy to get an app redesign that I didn’t hate right away.
A few hours later, I hit that dropdown menu as usual, and there were only two demos for two games I recently played: Cassette Beasts and Tiny Life. Full list of games, where’s Steam? I need a screenshot folder for Roots of Pacha to show my friends how my farm is progressing. To find screenshots of fellow raves dancing in the track in VR, you’ll need the Phasmophobia folder.
For many of us who swap shots in Discord, pull them up in Paint to do some trimming, and maybe even meme a little, this is a devastating little inconvenience. because you need to know your numeric Steam App ID number to find it manually.
For example, if you want a Phasmo shot, it’s in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\.[user ID]\760\remote\739630\screenshot.
at the top of the Steam app bar[表示]>[スクリーンショット], find the game by its real name in the dropdown list, and press the Open New Folder button. If it worked, it is. Valve has released three sets of fixes since the original redesign, including other issues with the screenshot manager, but the list isn’t complete.I certainly hope not assumption in this way.
Even those who just uploaded a screenshot of their latest session to their Steam profile aren’t having such a good time. Update feedback Many people can’t upload screenshots publicly, they just have their visibility set to ‘Private’. Also, you’ll only see the 30 most recent screenshots, so if you shoot a lot in a day or are trying to upload old ones, you’re out of luck.
