The latest go-around for an almost overwhelming game steam next Fest is live. Again, this means he’ll be able to play literally hundreds of demos of upcoming games on Steam in a week.
With so much to play and limited time to play it all, it’s “nearly overwhelming”. It’s great for setting aside time to actually play the games you’re looking forward to, but it can be a really tough week for the “must-play-it-all” completionist. I did the math for Next Fest in February, and I think you can spend about 12 minutes per demo to complete all the demos, assuming you don’t waste time eating or sleeping. It’s certainly not the most accurate measure possible, but it’s also not realistic, so I won’t go into details.
If you need help deciding what to try first, the Steam Next Fest page can help. At the top, you’ll see an overview of the games on your wishlist that also offer a Next Fest demo. For me, this is a reminder that The Invincible, Broken Roads, SlavicPunk: Oldtimer, and Stellar Wandered DX are all on board for this event, and they can probably focus most of the event on their own.
Not all demos disappear when Next Fest ends. For example, New Blood Interactive’s Dave Oshry pointed out that the Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition demo will be available forever. This is case-by-case, but if you’re too busy and want to postpone something, keep that in mind.
Yes, the @RiseoftheTriad demo has no time limit and will run forever. We may update it over time. This is her SHAREWARE version of the remaster. Please enjoy – and please share 🙂 https://t.co/aYoyfSJ9Dq pic.twitter.com/5cmMzaQVXwJune 19, 2023
Of course, I’m not going to leave you alone. We’ve dug ourselves into the mountains to compile a list of our favorite Next Fest demos. We will publish it soon. If you saw anything you wanted to check out in the trailer above, here’s a full rundown of everything on display.
Steam Next is live now and runs until June 26th.
