In one of the strangest pieces of news we heard today, famous anime streamer Crunchyroll announced that they are developing and publishing a retro-inspired video game based on their classic mascot princess (thanks, Sotomatsu). What’s even stranger is that it will be playable on the Game Boy Color via Limited Run Games, with cartridge pre-orders available.
To clarify, yes you read that correctly.
princess quest is an 8-bit action-adventure game set in 1999 where you play as a streamer mascot on a mission to save a small-town anime club from the evil Y2K menace. Stranger!Watch the trailer above and you’ll see that the company is doing everything in its power to embody the late ’90s vibe. Power Ranger-esque villain – Yeah, it brings us back.
We haven’t seen a lot of gameplay footage so far, which is somewhat awkward, especially given the fact that this is a game. appear Retro enough.
