Microsoft applied the discount hammer to many of the Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC games in the Xbox store this week as well, so the TA News team is back with some recommended pick-ups.
Another collection of games that we think are worth picking up is back from the latest Xbox sale, which slashed prices for titles on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. Check out below to see what the TA News team likes to do in their spare time. Also, let us know your recommendations in the comments section.
This week we head into some wild adventures, with each of our three games covering a different genre. Unfortunately, Heidi was bailed out this week — damn, we know! — but Luke, Sean, and Tom have three offerings for you to peruse. , if you’re in the mood to explore terror in a nightmare or escape the jaws of an extinct animal, we’ve got you covered with the recommendations below.
A bargain from the latest Xbox sales
Luke — Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2
It seems we live in an age of remakes, but the best ones are the ones that make their presence felt important. A perfect example of this. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 fills the gap left by the arcade skating series salvaged long ago and gives it a nostalgic style. The same tight controls you remember, the same classic levels you spent hours trying to reach a high score, and at the end of your run the four wheels finally hit the deck and cost millions. There’s the same undeniable satisfaction you get when you accumulate points.
But it’s more than just a ship of nostalgia. If you’re new to the series, you’ll find world-class gameplay in a fairly niche genre, and belatedly discover why some of us youngsters have literally wasted days . A map as simple as a hangar. Most of the levels (not downhill his jam) are brilliantly crafted to allow both beginners and experts to set up combo lines. The balance of risk and reward that boosts luck never gets old, spins barely land his tricks, and score 2 minutes his attacks will be able to sustain combos for the entire duration of his run . Skill caps are high, achievements are pretty tough and grind (good), but THPS 1+2 is the best regardless of proficiency level.
Tony Hawk™ Pro Skater™ 1 + 2
Play via Xbox Series X|S backwards compatibility.
Return to the most iconic skateboarding game ever made. Play Tony Hawk’s™ Pro Skater™ and Tony Hawk’s™ Pro Skater™ 2 in one epic collection and rebuild from the ground up in incredible HD. All pro skaters, levels and tricks are back and completely remastered.
Sean — Little Nightmare Complete Edition + Little Nightmare II
While Halloween has passed and we look towards Christmas, we’d like to keep the Halloween spirit alive by recommending two excellent spooky finds from the latest Xbox sale. , available this week for $7.49/£5.99/€7.49. Not only do you get Little Nightmares, an amazing puzzle-platformer, the Complete Edition includes several DLC add-ons, three of which have achievements. In Little Nightmares, you play as Six. The Six find themselves in a strange place known as the Maw, inhabited by sinister and terrifying beings. It’s up to you to help her escape The Maw and avoid her terrifying creatures trying to capture her. Little Nightmares does a great job of combining stealth, puzzle-her platforming, and the game’s wonderfully grim atmosphere, making her one of my favorite games when it came out in 2018.
If you want even more Little Nightmare antics, we also recommend Little Nightmares II, priced at $9.89 / £8.24 / €9.89. Little Nightmares II has the same winning formula as the first game. This time we play as Mono with Six. Mono must navigate the strange and frightening world of The Pale City to confront the being known as The Thin Man. Little Nightmares II is slightly better in terms of gameplay in that Mono has to work with Six to complete puzzles, but overall it’s pretty much the same experience, and when I played this last year is what I wanted. Little Nightmares and Little Nightmares II are relatively short, and both are fairly easy to beat, aside from the nasty speedrun achievement in the first game.
Little Nightmare Full Version
Includes – Little Nightmares™ – Little Nightmares™ Secrets of The Maw Immerse yourself in a dark and whimsical tale that confronts your childhood fears! Help Six and The Kid escape from The Maw. A huge, mysterious ship inhabited by fallen souls looking for their next meal.
Little Nightmares II
Return to the fascinating world of horror with Little Nightmares II. In this suspenseful adventure game, you play as Mono, a young boy trapped in a world distorted by the humming transmission of a distant tower.
Together with a new friend, Six, Mono sets out to discover the signal tower’s disturbing secrets. Whether they can make their way through a gallery of new threats and enemies.
Tom — LEGO Jurassic World
My 6 year old and I completed Lego Jurassic World this summer vacation. He especially liked it because the game allowed him to play as a dinosaur. If you’re a movie buff like I am, I can’t imagine you’ll be disappointed with the wild tale of Traveler’s Tales. The game follows key moments from the original his trilogy and the first Jurassic His World films, and brings the adorable Lego makeovers the developers have come to expect. The gameplay feels familiar to other Lego games, and the silly, comedic layer added to smooth out the more violent scenes is a welcome departure from the many other games I’ve been playing lately. It’s a change of pace. It’s filled in a relaxed way, but be prepared to binge-watch the movie as a reward for your efforts as you complete the game.Lego Jurassic World for just £7.99/$4.99/€9.99 this week You can get it at This is an 80% discount and definitely worth it!
LEGO® Jurassic World™
Following the epic stories of Jurassic Park, Lost World: Jurassic Park, Jurassic Park III and the highly anticipated Jurassic World, LEGO Jurassic World™ is the first video game that lets players relive and experience all four Jurassic movies .
