For those who know little about Miasma Chronicles, let me set the scene… Miasma Chronicles is an intensive tactical RPG from The Bearded Ladies. We embark on a journey with Elvis and her two brothers, Diggs, to explore the heart of New America, ravaged by a devastating force known only as the “Miasma”.
What is Miasma Chronicles?
Miasma Chronicles is set in the near future, just after an environmental renaissance set to solve worsening ecological problems. Businesses were quick to capitalize on these issues and being environmentally friendly was simply seen as ‘good business’.
Fortunately, one man implemented a solution that resulted in an era of balance between humanity and nature: great stability. Since then, the world has changed and new threats have emerged. Currently, a force of nature known simply as the Miasma reigns.
Over the years, people have learned to coexist with the Miasma, but now the Miasma has gone mad, causing death and destruction. Can it be tamed?
The First Family now rules this apocalyptic New America. They rule by exploitation and fear. Citizens of small towns and cities are mining resources and filling their pockets to fund the ‘mission’ to rid the world of miasma.
Well, what about gameplay?
Miasma Chronicles was designed as an homage to the old PS1 RPGs (Xenogears, Final Fantasy, etc.). This is the type of game that we love to play and love to make.
It’s primarily a tactical game that tests your skill and patience, but explores a variety of environments, including small towns, vast forests, and gigantic industrial cities, playing a deep narrative, with strange and wonderful experiences along the way. Meet the characters.
The story focuses on unlikely brothers named Elvis and Diggs. Their mother just got up and left when Elvis was a little boy, leaving her with a broken heart and a metal glove and a message to find her. Obsessed with finding her, the brothers travel across America, meeting new friends and enemies along the way, and must get a revelation.

Ambushes are one way to gain the upper hand. Pre-position teams in real-time to find the best cover and environmental advantages. Isolating and defeating the most problematic enemies first will allow your team to wipe out and dominate.
Another way to gain an advantage on the battlefield is to use stealth. Search for the perfect ambush position, seek out your enemies and silently select them to turn numbers to your advantage.
During combat, we wanted an easier tactical experience for new players, but without sacrificing the deep tactical mechanics that players enjoy.
