Atlas is a sandy world filled with mystery, danger and terrifying creatures. Thankfully, you are armed with a mystical gauntlet packed with magical abilities that will help you shape sand, craft weapons out of it, and dash through dunes at incredible speeds to help you survive in this harsh environment. At the heart of all this is our unique Essence Stone System. Atlas Fallen.
The Essence Stone aims to turn combat into a massive playground for players. There, players can feel responsible and experiment with individual stones, ultimately tailoring their character by altering traits such as damage, tricks, momentum, survivability, and healing. These stones are primarily obtained through the game’s fusion system, where you collect formulas, materials, and essence cores by defeating enemy wraiths. They are purchased by mysterious wandering merchants, found in forgotten chests around the world, and sometimes obtained as quest rewards.
Essence Stones are also linked to the Momentum System, represented by a gauge that is generated when attacking Wraiths during combat and fills as it increases. The more momentum you accumulate, the more powerful you become. Momentum and Essence Stones can make you very powerful, but there are pitfalls. Momentum also increases the damage you take, making you more vulnerable. So keep in mind that hoarding momentum is also a more dangerous approach to combat.
Suppose you are fighting a group of weaker monsters and one big monster. You can use small monsters to build momentum and make a final attack against larger monsters. However, keep in mind that since it’s a group fight, you can get hit, and the more momentum you have, the more likely you’ll get a critical hit.
There is a lot to experiment with when it comes to combinations, and it can be interesting to vary the builds you use to adapt your playstyle to the situation. Luckily, Build Presets let you save up to three different Essence Stone builds, so you can switch between them on the fly as long as you’re away from combat. This way you can save your favorite builds while experimenting and adapting your approach with his two other presets.
One of my favorite builds uses an active stone called Endmost Wrath. This also happens to be a special Tainted Essence Stone. Tainted stones are more powerful, but also have negative effects. In this case, Endmost Wrath will greatly increase your damage output, but your HP will drop to 1 and you will not be able to heal while using it. I counter negative effects with his 3 passive stones. All of these passive stones grant buffs below a certain HP level. For example, it automatically generates momentum, reduces the active stone’s cooldown, and further increases damage. The final part of this build is a passive stone called Saving Grace, which prevents damage from lethal strikes and goes on cooldown. Considering the sheer risk of this build, Saving Grace complements it beautifully.
Another build combines several Essence Stones from the Tricks category. A single stone can slow down a Wraith, much like the Clockmaster. Active stones generate large bubbles that slow down all Wraiths and their projectiles. Combine this with Timely Crystallization, a passive stone that gives a small chance to stun slower Wraiths. When the stun effect works, the other 3 passive stones add additional stun-based effects, such as extending the amount of time an enemy is stunned, granting health when damaging a stunned enemy, or increasing the amount of damage dealt to an enemy.
We hope you’re all looking forward to trying out the Essence Stone system for yourself and developing your own builds and playstyles. Atlas Fallen Available August 10, 2023 for Xbox Series X|S.
