As adorable as Beacon Pines, it does a great job of creating a disturbing atmosphere and building tension. It’s a short game, but it packs a lot in its time and was one of the best Game Pass surprises of September.

Death Stranding
Sure, Death Stranding was only added for PC Game Pass, but it was still one of the most anticipated additions of the year. Death Stranding launched his PlayStation exclusive in 2019, but after a few hints from the PC Game Pass team, excitement started building about a possible addition to the Game Pass library. Hideo Kojima’s action-adventure game follows Sam Bridges in a post-apocalyptic world brought to his knees by Death Stranding. It’s an interesting genre mashup and boasts an impressive cast. After his initial announcement, he is one of the games that continued to raise more questions than answers. Opinions on the game seem to be divided among quite a few players, but it’s no exaggeration to say that it was a big win for PC Game Pass.

Another complete change of pace came in September with Disney Dreamlight Valley, a real-life simulation. The game is still in Early Access — it’s set to be fully released as a free-to-play game in 2023 — but it has an amazing amount of content for a game that isn’t fully finished. An event known as oblivion caused the valley’s inhabitants to lose their memories and scatter. He also covered the land with thorns of the night. This means traveling through different realms to find your favorite Disney and Pixar characters such as Moana, Anna, and Elsa. It has all aspects of a life sim. Make friends, cook, fish, garden, decorate, craft, and even story quests. Despite a lot of work, Disney’s Dreamlight Valley is still a fun experience and a great addition to the Xbox Game Pass library.

Metal: Helsinger
Continuing our discussion of different genres, let’s talk about Rhythm FPS Metal: Hellsinger. This means less socializing with Mickey Mouse and more of destroying the demonic hordes of Hell. As The Unknown, we battle The Infernal Planes and their inhabitants, and fight The Red Judge. The introduction to Xbox Game Pass opened the game to a wider audience and gave more players the chance to try it out. Further proof of the amount of variety available to players with an Xbox Game Pass membership.
Metal: Helsinger (Xbox Series X|S & PC)
Slaughter to the rhythm of metal and vengeance on a hellish journey through eight hells. Make them afraid of beats. Metal: Hellsinger is a rhythm FPS filled with demons, brutal weapons and heavy metal music.

Slime Rancher 2 also released to Xbox Game Pass in September — similar to Disney’s Dreamlight Valley, it was released into Early Access, but surprisingly rich despite the promise of a full game yet to come. Seeing Beatrix LeBeau head to Rainbow Island on a new adventure is, on some level, a great sequel in that it really is. more New slimes, new mysteries, and a beautiful new world are just some of the things people loved in the first Slime Rancher. The original was hugely popular with players, and it was great to see the Slime Rancher sequel join Xbox Game Pass from day one.
