Now that all the Summer Game Fest event whirlwind is over, the TA News team set out to pick out some of our favorite announcements.
It is no exaggeration to say that there is a bit Each member of the team is different in what they are attracted to, so our list of favorite Summer Game Fest announcements ranges from mutant horrors to space-faring villains to cute, cuddly dinosaur friends. So without further ado, let’s prepare for tonal whiplash and get started…
Sean â Star Wars Outlaws
I’m a huge Star Wars fan, but at first I wasn’t sure how to rate Ubisoft’s new open-world game, Star Wars Outlaws. Like so many jaded gamers, I was exhausted by his Ubisoft open-world formula, so I was skeptical when it was revealed at the Xbox Game Showcase. It wasn’t until I saw the gameplay and scope of the game for the first time in Ubisoft Forward that I got excited. Outlaws seems to have a little bit of everything: third-person shooter, stealth, driving speeders, piloting ships in space, and dogfights. Ubisoft says you can also craft your own story by making dialogue choices that affect the reputation of a particular faction or syndicate. There’s a lot to offer here, and hopefully Ubisoft can tie it into a decent Star Wars story. EA may have the upper hand with its excellent Star Wars Jedi series, but maybe Ubisoft can bring new hope?
Sean – Highland Song
Before you read any further, let me get this out of the way. Highland Song has not been announced for Xbox. Yes, I know this is his website on Xbox, but it’s like someone made this game specifically for me and I can’t help but shout about it. I love Scottish folk music. I like rock folk songs with lots of Gaelic. Pete & Diesel To anthemic indie folk tide line, and when I saw A Highland Song during Wholesome Direct, I immediately ran to Steam and added it to my wishlist. “A Highland Song” is her game, a gorgeous looking narrative adventure about a young woman who runs away from home in hopes of reaching the coast. But to get there, you have to cross the rugged Scottish Highlands. The piece features platforming combined with some survival elements, but it also has some rhythmic elements, and some of these rhythm sections are probably my favorite Scottish folk band songs. It is set. Talisque and called another great band fourth month. I could be wrong, but I don’t think I’ve heard traditional Scottish folk songs in-game before. So to see that represented here alongside a platform game with a very impressive narrative, oh, I’m thrilled. Fingers crossed games are finally coming to Xbox, and you can have some good old Scottish fun together. Yes, even bagpipes.
Heidi â Announcing ID@Xbox Game Pass
got it. I think this is a little cheeky because it includes 10 games instead of one. but I expected a surprise announcement during the Xbox Games Showcase Extended, and I love cozy wholesome indie games, so it’s great news that Microsoft announced 10 more ID@Xbox opening day additions. bottom. Doubly so, because it means I can also talk about another of my favorite events around Summer Game Fest. sound directthis year featured announcements and updates from over 70 incredible indie titles. A new trailer for Mineko’s Night Market was out there. This is the trailer I’ve been waiting for. We were so excited to see it on Xbox, so it’s been great to be on Game Pass since day one. This is a Japanese culture-inspired Social He Sim who explores the myth of the sun cat Nikko while helping rebuild his village and crafting things to sell at the night market. This was the first game that caught my eye at the ID@Xbox announcement, but I’m also excited to play “The Wandering Village” and “Little Kitty, Big City.” And we have to find out what the heck is going on in Soulslike games. Hermit Crab: Another Crab Treasure.
Heidi â Midnight South
One of my unexpected favorites at the Xbox Game Showcase was the announcement of the third-person action-adventure game South of Midnight. As you can see from the other titles listed here, I tend to sometimes gravitate towards games that are more lighthearted than games with some pretty spooky swamp monsters. But South of Midnight managed to evoke such vibes in less than two of his years. A minute and a half that includes exploration of mythology and folklore, and I’m already hooked on what’s next. Unfortunately, this may be a long way off. We don’t have a release date or release date yet, but we do know it’s coming to Xbox Game Pass from day one.
Heidi â Paleo Pines
I’ve waited a long time for the release date of Paleo Pines. It was confirmed some time ago that it would also be coming to Xbox, and then the developer hinted that it would be announced during the Future Games Show, so after the Wholesome Direct, I was glued to it, but it just so happened that he I took my eyes off it for about 2 seconds and missed it. Luckily Sean figured it out (the patient team is often lectured on why Paleo his pines are so great). And it was confirmation that Paleo Pines will be released on his September 26th.Indeed, in the release date trailer for Steam and not that’s right It’s also been confirmed to launch on Xbox on the same day, but for the sake of my sanity, I’m pretending it does. Paleo Pines lets you farm and farm with the help of dinosaurs you find while exploring the island. We will also help our villagers and create a nice sanctuary for all our dino friends.
Tom â Avatar: Pandora’s Frontier
Unlike Sean, I don’t get burnout from large open world games. The only problem is time. Finding time to explore them is the hardest part. I haven’t finished all of Far Cry 6 yet, but I’m ready to play Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora in December. It didn’t bother me at all before, but after seeing the gameplay in Ubisoft Forward, James is willing to hand over cash for the chance to get lost in Cameron’s wonderful world. The world looks gorgeous with colors popping up on your screen. The overview trailer states that you can customize your character, wield both Na’vi and his RDA weapons, and most importantly, tame and customize your own Ikran. Then you can go to the sky! Avatar: Frontiers of Pandor is set after the events of the first movie, where we play as the kidnapped Navi children. Awakening after 15 years of cryo-sleep, you must earn the trust of Nabi’s clan and fight to defeat them. RDA. Sean described it as “Far Cry: Blue Man Edition” and that feels like a perfect summary and is exactly what draws me to this great looking game.
Tom â John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of slaughtering hordes of zombies and love a good co-op shooter. John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando not only kills tons of undead and features 4-player co-op, but it’s also being developed by Saber Interactive (I love World War Z and Insurgency, my favorite Published by one of its publishers, Focus Entertainment, and in collaboration with legendary director John Carpenter, Toxic Commando is said to be an 80s-inspired first-person shooter, titled New York/LA. Having grown up on Carpenter’s films like Escape From, The Thing, and Ghosts of Mars, I have high hopes that this is going to be great. After an experiment to use it as a power source, an eerie creature known as the Sludge God awakens and begins terraforming the surrounding area, turning living people into undead creatures. We must save the planet, guns, Play as a toxic commando, a mercenary force hired to destroy hordes of undead with special abilities, vehicles, etc. These can be customized using the class system.Looks and sounds chaotic and fun. So I can’t wait to play it when it launches on Xbox Series X|S in 2024.
“You see, I love shooting zombies. They keep telling me they’re called ‘infected’.” please. They’re ghouls, dude. They explode really well and there are a lot of them. People will love this game,” says John Carpenter.
Tom â Starfield
Do we really need to explain why Bethesda’s upcoming space adventure is on this list? I mean, we’ve all seen Starfield Direct, right?I wasn’t really into sci-fi or space thing, and while I’ve always felt that a fantasy world full of dragons and magic is a preferred place to imagine myself, a hot Starfield excites me. Bethesda Game Studios have a habit of creating incredible game worlds that keep you engrossed for inordinate amounts of time, but Starfield seems to take it a notch higher. This means you can dive deep and share a game that is almost as long as the main game. Xbox showcase, I still feel like it was just a tease, but your game is probably monstrous. Gunplay looks more polished than in previous showcases, spaceship customization looks smaller than any housing content Bethesda has done to date (I want a dedicated cargo compartment for sandwiches), and planetary exploration The enormity of the has reawakened that excited child inside me. . I can’t wait to play this game and explore the edge of the universe with my favorite fans!
