Members of the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers have been unable to reach an agreement over the balance payments from the streaming service, and the strike is about to enter its third week.
The Last of Us season 2 showrunner Craig Mazin to go on strike
As reported by varietyCraig Mazin, co-creator and showrunner of HBO’s The Last of Us, was recently spotted at the picket line. Casting was underway for the second reason, but is now on hold.
A source familiar with the production told Variety that the casting team had asked auditioning actors to read the script for The Last of Us Part II because the scripts for Season 2 hadn’t been written yet. HBO hopes to begin production in early 2024 and shoot in Vancouver.
Neil Druckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog and co-director of the HBO series, has not commented on the matter or the ongoing strike. Many high-profile shows continue to be affected, including Netflix’s Stranger Things.
No date has been set for The Last of Us Season 2.
