The Negro league is an important part of baseball and American history, and its iconic figures are not as well-known as other baseball players of the era. We plan to introduce generations of baseball fans to these historical figures and their stories of triumph over adversity.
You may be asking yourself how do you accomplish such a difficult task? ENTER THE STORYLINE * A new game mode in MLB The Show 23. Through short informational videos that focus on specific players, users will experience an engaging narrative journey followed by gameplay that reflects key moments in that player’s career.

We couldn’t be happier to finally introduce the Negro League to MLB The Show! The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and NLBM President Bob Kendrick have brought these stories to life in video games.
MLB The Show 23 (Storyline Season 1*) introduces eight Negro League players and their stories, narrated by Bob Kendrick. With this multi-year partnership with the Negro League Baseball Museum, our goals align with the museum to educate, enlighten, and inspire by celebrating the rich history of the Negro leagues.Every new release of MLB The Show is new To mark the season and pay due tribute to these little-known baseball superstars, we’re introducing a new group of Negro League Legends and their stories. MLB The Show 23 represents the first season, and next year’s game will be season two.
The Season 1 roster of MLB The Show 23 includes Leroy “Satchel” Page, Jackie Robinson, Andrew “Lube” Foster, Hilton Smith, Hank Thompson, John Donaldson, Martin Dihigo and John Jordan “Buck” O’Neill.
To celebrate our historic partnership with the Negro League Baseball Museum. MLB The Show and San Diego Studios are pleased to announce that for every MLB The Show 23 Collector’s Edition sold in the United States, he will donate $1 to the Negro League Baseball Museum. Includes Digital Deluxe and The Captain Edition from today through December 31, 2023.
