Disney Dreamlight Valley has a meta, and it’s pumpkins. I found.
This kind of ruthless economic efficiency is inevitable in farming sims, but it feels a little surprising in the context of Disney’s games. But I know there’s an inflection point after which it stops being “casual” and turns into a dystopian optimization nightmare.
Confession: I have a dark history with ancient fruit wine distilleries and turnip strains. In my future, I see huge profits in the pumpkin trade.
Early in Dreamlight Valley, planting and harvesting carrots is how you make money, but as players have discovered, pumpkins are the real endgame. They take quite a while to buy and are sold at his Goofy’s stall in the Forgotten Lands biome past the Sunlit Plateau. Pumpkin seeds are expensive at 275 coins, while fully grown pumpkins sell for 664 coins. It’s a sale that Scrooge himself would be proud of.
Not surprisingly, everyone stuffs their village with pumpkins, which are very beneficial.

Seriously, you can’t get away from pumpkins right now. This is not just because it’s the season for spiced coffee. I’m innocently looking for architectural inspiration for my village and am inundated with gourd screenshots. This is really the peak of farm sim behavior. You can further maximize your cash investment by cooking three squashes into a grilled vegetable platter in your kitchen, but that’s also quite a surge of active button presses. They don’t seem to mind being discounted.
Big Pumpkin Exploit
Serious grinders make the most of the pumpkin meta with useful exploits. It turns out that you can abuse the hangout feature. This means that Tagalong characters can mine, excavate, or farmed seaweedInvite a character you designate as a farm friend, trap them inside a small square on the fence, harvest a large amount of crops in front of your face, and then release them to pop out into the sparkly fountain.

Disney Dreamlight Valley entered early access in early September and is expected to fully launch in 2023. In the meantime, there’s no doubt that both farming exploits and pumpkins’ shocking profit margins can be fixed. For now, though, ring as many pumpkins as you like in October. Those home upgrades don’t pay for themselves.
