The Sims 4 base game will soon be free to download and play for everyone.
EA and Maxis have announced that The Sims 4 will be free to download for all new players starting October 18, 2022. Plus, it’s available for download on all platforms, including PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. .
“EA and Maxis have welcomed millions of The Sims players over the years,” said the official announcement. “With The Sims 4 base game free, the team is more focused than ever on developing new and meaningful experiences for players, and will continue to develop and release packs, kits, and Sims Delivery Express. ”
EA and Maxis seem to have a lot of content in store for The Sims 4, starting with a special edition stream at Behind The Sims Summit on October 18th.

The Sims 4 was released on September 2nd, 2014 and has been played by 31 million players worldwide since its release. However, the game received mixed reviews in its early stages, with many outlets criticizing the lack of features compared to The Sims 3. Since then, a great many expansion packs have followed.

With The Sims 4 free, it’s possible that an eight-year-old game could breathe even more life. Thankfully, EA and Maxis are giving away the Desert Luxe Kit to anyone who buys the game before October 17th, so existing players won’t miss out either.
