It’s entirely possible that you haven’t heard of the game that is currently blowing up the Steam charts. battle bit remasteredReleased in Early Access today, it’s a 254-player FPS that looks like Roblox but plays like Battlefield. At just $15, it’s currently the best-selling paid game on Steam and sits just behind CS:GO on the world’s top seller list. Not surprisingly, it’s also in the top 10 most played games right now.
BattleBit’s top spot is impressive considering its low prices and the fact that Steam ranks top sellers by revenue rather than unit sales. So BattleBit is currently making more money than Warzone 2, Starfield, PUBG and Steam Decks. Not bad for his four-man team at OkiGames, who has been working on BattleBit in one form or another for seven years.
Play BattleBit for an hour and it’s easy to see why it’s an immediate success. It’s a fun little FPS with a lot more depth than it looks. It has the scale, vehicles, and destruction of a modern Battlefield game, but the Milsim traits of the Squad, including melee chat, buildable defensive structures, bleeding that must be bandaged, and a medic class with dedicated abilities. are also included. to heal the player. It’s very accessible to jump in and play right away, but harder at its core than most multiplayer he shooters.
Perhaps the most impressive thing about BattleBit so far is that it works. It’s been a relatively smooth launch, aside from a few server resets to accommodate his 28,000+ users currently trying to play. Movement is snappy and shooting is challenging and fun (although the gun sounds are a bit weak). The map is huge, too, and even with 254 players running around, there’s plenty of room to get out of combat and flank.
BattleBit product manager Twelve says the game’s lo-fi look (combined with lead developer oki’s tireless programming) allows for its massive scale, as well as its surprisingly low system requirements. He said he was.

Basically, BattleBit runs on a toaster. It’s not as pretty as the big guys, but it plays great and I think the low barrier to entry will help OkiGames in the long run.
