long-awaited The Witcher 3 PS5 upgrade According to a statement near the end of the summary of CD Projekt Red’s latest financial statements, it plans to release it again this year. The developer plans this next-gen upgrade for PS5, PC, and Xbox series consoles in “Q4 2022.” This release date is also repeated in his two-minute video posted below where the studio put together its financial results. This date coincides with a statement CDPR made on its official Twitter account in May of this year that the upgrade will indeed be released in his Q4 2022.
The Witcher 3 PS5 version already suffers from some delays
The next-gen upgrade was originally announced in September 2020 and was slated for a 2021 launch, but given Cyberpunk 2077’s high expectations and numerous bugs, the studio has decided to focus on fixing the mess. In April of this year, CD Projekt Red recalled the production of the next-gen complete edition of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt by Russian studio Saber Interactive. The developer has voiced its support for Ukraine and has chosen to stop selling games, including The Witcher 3, in Russia and Belarus. It was precariously listed as “until further notice,” but the developer quickly fixed this the next day to clarify that it had not been cancelled.
It worries me that you haven’t seen gameplay footage of this effective remaster running on next-gen consoles or high-end PCs. I’m worried about something that should happen.
That said, the PS5 version of the game is set to offer a range of technical improvements, including ray tracing and faster loading times across all The Witcher 3 content. You’ll likely be able to play it without spending a dime, and it will be a free upgrade for those who already own the game.
In other news, The Witcher 4 will be the first of multiple new Witcher games as part of an alternate tale, with a new PS5 system update finally adding 1440p support and folders.
