In episode 5 of this fool In Season 1, Lewis got into trouble for being rude multiple times during a group hug. Austin Powers at inappropriate moments.
Julio has had enough. He’s not funny and needs professional help. So Lewis meets a volunteer psychologist, Sandy. Sandy helps Lewis figure out why he always feels like he has to be funny. He realized it had something to do with the void his father’s death left in his life.
Lewis feels lighter when he realizes he was hiding his trauma behind humor. He then uses his new knowledge to try and cure Julio.
Angered that Luis is calling him, Julio goes to see Sandy and asks if he needs to keep Luis down. Sandy tries to use his looks to treat him. She asks why Julio doesn’t write to Luis.
He did, Julio claims. But had he written Lewis off for all the stupid things he had done, he would have been kicked out of the program already. He then reveals that he and Luis live together at Julio’s mom’s house.
Lewis tries to share his trauma in a group hug. Austin PowersWhen Julio tells him to cut it out, Luis accuses him of holding his head for talking about him with Sandy. Everyone in the group is horrified by Julio’s actions. They urge him to seek therapy with Luis.
So they watch Sandy together. She suggests that Lewis get a new case manager and comes to the conclusion that they need time.

At Luis’ next therapy session, Sandy says Julio was too dominant to be Luis’ case manager. Lewis, who used to nod, now turns on Sandy. He claims she is in control.

episode review
The lack of character growth in this episode might be frustrating for some, but that should be passed on to the writers to give Julio and Luis realistic character flaws. I love therapy when I can weaponize it to play someone. But as soon as he actually feels challenged? Treatment has ended.
Julio struggles as well, and seems completely unwilling to change. At first glance, cousins may seem like polar opposites. But they are more alike than one might think.
Things may have to get worse for both Julio and Luis before either of them wants to get better.
