Elora Danang
I really wanted to like you willow, Disney+ sequel series to the 1988 film of the same name. I loved that movie and still do. Unfortunately, the show, created by Jonathan Kasdan and with Warwick Davis reprising the titular role, is far from a magical acorn tree.
So is the season finale, “Children of the Worms.” One of the better episodes of the series so far, but still falls short, with weird creative choices, embarrassingly bad dialogue, and various other shortcomings that I believe could have been avoided entirely. Again, behind these amateur mistakes hides a great show. It’s an epic fantasy adventure with heart and humor that leaves you itching to get rid of the silly dialogue, costume mishaps, and tonal chaos. But it never works. It is a pity.
Part of me still wants a second season.I love willow And I hope to see many more stories told in this universe full of enchanted fairies, silly brownies, wicked trolls and colorful magic. By the finale these characters could hardly be taken seriously, and characters like Kit and Elora who got better over time were so poorly drawn that this show’s creators deserve the respect they deserve. I just want to be treated with early on, it’s hard to start liking it right now.
The finale was totally predictable, but mostly okay. This week, to the surprise of no one, it turns out that he has been brainwashed by an evil clone. She turns Kit to stone after Madmartigan’s voice convinces her that she must abandon the spell and save Elora. Elora, meanwhile, is about to “marry” Airk in her illusion, but she suddenly breaks out of her illusion and says like a princess, “I don’t think I’m crazy about you anymore.” increase. She also accuses him of being “gross and creepy” and tells him that if his true self could see him now, he would “gag”.
Like, gag me with a spoon.
Boorman
Here’s what I mean about tone. There’s no need for this show to sound Shakespearean, but it could be that the characters are serious (sometimes funny) rather than walking jokes. For example, this is off the top of my head:
Once Elora starts kissing Airk and the clone’s magic seeps into her mouth and steals her power, she can free her from the spell with Willow’s flash or something – or the clone, whatever. – And she says: “Wait, stop.”
“What?” Airk answers.
“I . . . I don’t love you,” she says, almost surprised by the admission. shake like “And you’re not even Airk.”
“Elora,” he began to say, but she ignored him and turned to the old woman instead. She was still young and beautiful in her face, but her mask had slipped, and when she smiled you could see her rotten teeth.
From here onwards the dialogue could remain mostly the same, except for slightly changing phrases like “I don’t understand you” from the clones to . You can live a life full of love, bliss and happiness. All you have to do is let go. ”
“I never have!”
“Who you To tell myself Never, grumpy kid!
“It’s Elora Danan!” Willow says, beating the staff on the stone floor as she appears on the show. You get the point. It’s more just…fantasy than “I love you, you’re such a bad boo”.
Sure, I liked the fact that Willow finally showed up to save the day. I was really worried that he would walk away and turn back instead of chasing everyone else over the waterfall, but he arrived just in time, shattering the clone illusion and aiding in the fight.

From here is a big brawl scene. The old woman blows Graydon to pieces and everyone thinks he’s dead (but it’s clear he’s not, which is confirmed in the final scene). Alas, using the “two beams of magic collide” technique used by all modern fantasy shows. and better special effects than most, but still pretty unoriginal (despite) compared to the fight between Finn Raziel and Bavmorda in the movie. That movie was released decades ago!)
After Elora defeats the old woman, an evil entity imbues Airk with her powers, dressed in one of the better costumes the show has given us: the Kimmerian Cuirass, and his now fully evil brother. A second fight breaks out between the sisters (in some really awful costume shows). She won, of course, and in her horror that she was forced to take such drastic measures while about to kill her brother, Ellora stopped her. “I believe in love,” she says. “Listen only to the rhythm of your heart”
Willow then gives her the green gem from his wand, and Willow uses The Power Of Love™ to bring him back to the light. that’s the power of love(Damn, these are good song ideas to play in this scene in future edits!)
They all left the Ancient City and we headed for Graydon, lying among the corpses of soldiers in what appeared to be a vision that both Willow and Ellora had of Ellora’s death. There is an army of darkness arrayed on the horizon, including the two-headed monster (Evolsisk, named after Siskel and Ebert). Elora was there and told Graydon that she needed someone to help her create a new world. But it’s still kind of a cool final scene, and it makes me wonder if Willow’s vision is just some kind of deception.

Some thoughts:
- Jade is a nonsensical character. Without her, the focus might have been on Kit and Elora’s relationship all this time. It’s more interesting and dynamic. Please. That way both brother and sister can fall in love with the same person. This one is juicier. Graydon of course. It’s no surprise that someone as beautiful and magical as Elora Danan is so captivating.
- I love Boorman, but give him a more serious moment too. It’s great that he’s a comic relief. So did Madmartigan. However, Madmartigan also gets serious at times, which made him a better character. , is what I feel about most of the cast. The show takes no one seriously for a long time, and while we all expect them to be taken seriously by the end, it still swells the show with dialogue that instantly breaks its facade.
- The episode had two modern songs. One during the fake wedding and one during the credits. I hope the creators understand that if there is a second season of this show, almost everyone, including the show’s ardent defenders, will hate it. I think that’s the only thing we can all really agree on. In many cases.
- I don’t think the clones should have shown up to Ellora and Kit the way they did to Airk. An older, more stately woman would make sense. She’s like Sosha, maybe Sosha herself. Like Airk, who likes pretty girls, Pia doesn’t make sense. It would have been a better story and spawned many fan theories.
- It doesn’t really touch on the plot nonsense of the show. . . well, that’s so nonsense. It seems like the writers overcomplicated everything and didn’t think about how it made no sense. Protect your baby because an evil sorcerer is trying to kill him for a prophecy. that’s it! Here, Crone a Wyrm, Gales, and the Prince are kidnapped, but seem largely irrelevant to the overall plot…a magical Cuirass and a missing father, blah blah blah. It didn’t have to be so messy!
I’m sad willow. I really wanted to love this show. I was so excited when I first heard it, and I kept my optimism as long as I could. I like it sometimes, but most of the time it’s just a huge disappointment.
In the present circumstances, willow is on My 2022 Worst Show Listin the meantime Another Elora Danan show is on my Best Shows of 2022 list.
