Last year, Total War: Warhammer 3 received two DLC addons. While the Immortal Empires beta was an expansion-sized free expansion, Champions of Chaos was a paid expansion that included the Warriors of Chaos faction and his four legendary lords leading a more rapid campaign. Fans have been eagerly awaiting more news, especially after a dataminer uncovered an audio file suggesting Chaos Dwarf was on the way.
In a video message posted on Total War twitter feed (opens in new tab)game director Rich Aldridge provided an update on what’s planned for 2023 and why it’s taking longer than planned.
“We knew we needed to deliver The Immortal Empire in the best possible way,” said Aldridge. But it also requires Warhammer 3 itself to be patched and in the state it needs to be to add new content and experiences later this year and beyond. ”
Aldridge has not revealed what these “new content and experiences” will be, but confirmed when the first release is planned. We can share it,” he said, explaining it was a “passion project” that the team wanted to get “just right” before putting it out. We aim to offer two exciting experiences, one in the summer and one in the winter.”
However, this is “not a concrete plan” and work on patches will also continue throughout the year. “Creating DLC takes a lot of steps,” Aldridge said. See and feel it before we showcase it and release it to you. ”
Players have been vocal about the lack of news from Creative Assembly regarding DLC plans for Total War: Warhammer 3, which Aldridge addressed. To do that, we need to stand in that position before we tell you.We don’t want to disappoint. We want to excite. We…we are passionate about what we make. We are committed and want to create great content that you will enjoy for years to come.We are working on this as quickly as possible.I really appreciate it.”
The tone of comments from fans on Reddit and elsewhere regarding Total War: Warhammer 3 and the lack of DLC news has become quite hostile. This goes a long way to mitigating it, but it would be nice if the fandom cooled down the jets once rather than bothering the community managers, as players demand updates every second instead of a little patience.
Either way, Chaos Dwarfs seems likely to be one of those three addons, while the other two are open issues. A load pack that adds new leaders for Cathay, Kislev, and Demons of Chaos? Revamping existing factions from the first game, perhaps updating Vampire Counts to add Neferata and Nagash as legendary lords? New mercenaries based on tabletop Dogs of War armies? Whatever they become, we can probably forget about Ind, Nippon, and Kuresh.
