They span 40 years, so you can only assume this is going to be really weird and really fast, and Golden Idol encourages you to try out-of-the-box solutions. As effectively and thoroughly as possible, fill in the gaps in what you know and revise your theory as new evidence emerges.

When I was playing Return of the Obra Dinn, I used to think, ‘I’m so sorry we don’t have more games like this,’ but now there’s a second one like it. If you like Obra Dinn’s mystery-driven bits, it’s a game you should at least give the demo a try.
