Ubisoft seems to have canceled all four titles not only to delay Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and other unreleased games, but also to reduce costs and focus on larger names. Among those canceled games are both Ghost Recon Frontline and Splinter Cell VR.
The cancellation of the Ghost Recon frontline is a bit surprising given that the game hasn’t actually been released yet. It was first announced in October as a free battle royale spin-off with 102 players. However, the first reception was quite negative and the game’s planned closed test was postponed indefinitely. It seems that I will never see it again now.
Splinter Cell VR is a bit unshocking. It was first announced in 2020 along with the Assassin’s Creed VR game, but hasn’t heard since.According to some, Assassin’s Creed games still exist Leaked menu video From this April, it was called “Nexus” and showed that it would appear in Quest 2.
Meanwhile, according to CFO Frederick Duguet, the other two unreleased games have also been completely cancelled. He said all four cancellations were part of the company’s broader strategy of “more focus on maximum development opportunities.”
For Splinter Cell fans, the announced Splinter Cell remake will remain developed at Ubisoft Toronto. Cancellations aside, Ubisoft has recently been a major cause of game delays, including Prince of Persia remakes, Roller Champions (successful earlier this year), and Skull & Bones (hopefully this fall). But that’s not all. 2022 was a significant delay, partly due to the delay in the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on production.
