However, the main hurdle is for those who do not live in the US, Canada, UK, or the EU, as they cannot register. Apparently we’re here at this exclusive Steam Deck club, probably because shipping to other locations isn’t practical.
No, a VPN won’t help here.
To verify that you live in one of the above locations, you must have purchased something on Steam between 11/14/2021 and 11/14/2022. It’s sad for those who have spent the past year refusing to buy games to save money.
Also, the account must be in “good standing” (i.e. don’t have an account). Account ban (opens in new tab)) and limited account (opens in new tab)Fair enough, but that’s not the end of the story.
What’s really strange is that twitter thread (opens in new tab) It’s full of people who live in these zones and believe they meet all other requirements but still can’t register. Some people managed to get through after refreshing the page, but there were so many complaints that Valve decided to official statement (opens in new tab) Regarding registration issues after making some fixes, comments indicate that many people still can’t register.
“For those who were eligible but were having trouble registering, we just fixed a few things and they should be fine,” Valve said.
Hopefully, you’ll get a little Happy Steam Pal sticker to commemorate the event, so it’s a nice consolation prize if you don’t win anything.
