Call of Duty: Warzone returns in a big way as part of the first season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. After becoming a prominent player in the battle royale genre, the spin-off will receive a sequel update called Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. It adds new innovations to the Warzone formula to change certain familiarities and add even more surprises to the genre.
Warzone 2.0 offers an all-new map filled with diverse terrain and vehicle options, offering a remixed and more polished experience than before. Strategies change and become more diverse, new locations join the route, and the new Collapse of the Circle feature plunges everyone into a memorable Warzone finale. In addition to all of this, there are also all upgrades from Modern Warfare II’s engine. Learn more about new gameplay enhancements based on a recent hands-on session with an early alpha of the game.
Where do you get off and how do you move?
Warzone 2.0 takes players to a new location called Al Mazrah. This sprawling map takes Warzone exploration to a new level. A free-to-join island lets you adventure through deserts, towns, cities, and everything in between. How you navigate this vast land is up to you, and what terrain and vehicles you find.
This entry in the Warzone universe expands on previous vehicle and travel options. Wheeled land vehicles are no longer the only option. Want to fly a helicopter with your team? it’s free Want to take a slow and destructive approach with tanks? keep it up. Also similar to Modern Warfare II, players have access to new aquatic combat options and can use boats to travel across water.
Keep an eye on your fuel gauge, as when each vehicle runs out of fuel, you may have to refuel at a petrol station.
A new way to plan routes
Another significant change in Warzone 2.0 is how items are found in Al Mazrah. Gear is now laid out more logically and realistically around the world. For example, stims and medical syringes are stored in medicine cabinets, while weapons and other equipment are typically stored in armories and military bases. This new placement philosophy is consistent across all loot in Warzone 2.0, allowing you to focus on specific areas to gather the supplies you need.
While seeming minor at first, these new placements change travel routes and offer new ways to play Warzone. You can plan your route to fill up your car by bumping into it, or look to where you can collect more medical supplies. With more vehicles included, this change adds an extra layer of strategy that changes how you play.
Enemies can be allies or final bosses
The concentration camps have changed a lot since you left. New rules force you to put your second life in the hands of your future enemies. Rather than fighting alone, you may team up with rival players. With their help, you can complete another escape goal from the concentration camp by defeating other teams, or AI combatants known as “jailers” who hold the key to your escape.
The dynamic circle system is another way to cross paths with more opponents. This new circle collapse randomly shifts Al Mazura’s safe zone. Sometimes a zone is divided into multiple circles rather than a single safe circle that all players must fight to stay in. The surviving teams within the separate circles are corralled into the final single circle, ending the match in dramatic fashion. . This gameplay twist lends a final boss-like feel to a showdown against a human-controlled team stocked with the best looks you can find.
