Hello. I’m Ryan Bousfield, Founder and Director of Wolf & Wood Interactive. We’re here today to announce that our upcoming game, The Last Worker, will launch on PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 on March 30th!
For those unfamiliar with the game, a quick overview. The Last Worker is a first-person narrative adventure created with Jörg Tittel (writer/director) and Wired Productions (publisher) that balances light-duty simulation tasks with stealth gameplay and a deliciously dark and satirical story. It is played by a star-studded player. Cast (Olafur Dali Olafsson, Jason Isaacs, Claire Hope Ashiti, David Hewlett, Zelda Williams, Tommy Earl Jenkins, etc.).
You are Kurt, the last human worker at Jüngle, the world’s most profitable company. Kurt, along with his cobot assistant his SKEW, is responsible for “delivering the dream”. gigantic It travels to a distribution center in a gravity-defying pod (larger than the sunken island of Manhattan) and uses a “Jünglegun” to pick up, analyze, and properly tag the product before dispatching or destroying it. All things considered, Kurt is pretty happy with his fate. That is, until a call from a dark organization disrupts his day-to-day work, offering him a chance to peer into the jungle and dark secret underground where he built his empire…
The Last Worker is playable both in traditional “flat mode” and PS VR2 compatible, both versions of the game built independently to take full advantage of the strengths of each version of the game, and of course its own make the most of the features of PlayStation 5 and PS VR2 hardware bring to the table.
Hybrid game and save
The Last Worker is available as a PS5 and PSVR2 title, but you don’t have to pay for the upgrade. When you purchase the game, you will receive both versions, and your save files and progress will carry over between them. If you want to start your shift right away without having to, you can easily play it on your TV.
4K HDR PS VR2 Visuals
The Last Worker is a gorgeous stylization that blends custom shading with concept art drawn by comic artist legend Mick Mcmahon (known for his work on 2000 AD characters such as Judge Dredd and Sláine) It features a world designed and lovingly adapted by our team’s hand-paintings. All pen strokes are displayed in 3D. This resulted in a vibrant, colorful world brought to life in spectacular fashion by his two 2000×2040 OLED screens on the PS VR2.
3D audio
Wolf & Wood has released PS VR titles before and understands the importance of audio in creating realistic and immersive worlds. The OST (created by Olber Krauss, known for his collaborations with Adele, Sia, Florence and the Machine, etc.) speaks very clearly regardless of your position.
Adaptive triggers and haptic feedback
As Kurt’s story progresses, so does the choice of tools he can use. From using the Jungle Gun as a makeshift hacking tool to the mighty EMP Gun, each tool you use to complete your everyday tasks (or spy on them) comes with adaptive triggers and powerful haptic feedback. Use it – whether it’s labeling packages or throwing rats in front of a chasing security bot.
PS VR2 headset feedback
One of the PS VR2 features we’re most excited about is feedback on the headset itself. For The Last Worker, we made sure it reacts to on-screen actions as it flies around the JFC-1 and positions you right away. Kurt’s Jünglepod hot seat. Shocking chaos such as flying debris, giant robots, and explosions are simulated for players using optional headset haptics.
No matter how you play The Last Worker, you’ll be immersed in exploring the dark underworld of Jüngle and the important story Kurt shares. Until then, check out Wired Productions and The Last Worker’s social his account for more details. I am looking forward to joining the company on March 30th.
