World of Warcraft professions got a pretty big overhaul in Dragonflight, changing the way they work. The core system remains the same, but if you want to get the most out of crafting in the new expansion, you’ll need to familiarize yourself with occupational stats, crafting orders, and item quality.
But don’t put it off. The new job system isn’t as confusing as it looks. We’ll explain everything you need to know. If you’re ready to get down to business, here’s what’s new for Dragonflight professions.
WoW Dragonflight Professions: How It Works
The new crafting UI can be confusing at first, but once you know what you’re looking at it’s pretty easy. In the screenshot below, the numbers and percentages are jumbled up, but I’ll explain what they mean.
There is a standard recipe list on the left, and the main window shows the ingredients needed to craft an item using the selected recipe. There is also room for optional reagents, which can improve the quality of the item being crafted. This is shown on the right.
- recipe difficulty is the skill level required for the profession to obtain the highest quality version of that crafted item. Even if you don’t have the recommended skill level, you can still craft the item, but the quality isn’t great.
- skill Profession levels are determined by traditional skill points gained from crafting items. However, you can further increase your Dragonflight skill level by using Profession Knowledge to upgrade nodes in your specialty tree. See below for details.
Neither concept is new to the profession. They just appear differently in Dragonflight. Occupational statistics, on the other hand, can provide more explanation.
Occupational statistics and equipment
Occupational statistics and their role
One of the biggest changes coming to the Dragonflight profession is the addition of stats specific to crafting and gathering. These stats offer new ways to make crafting more efficient, equipping gear and gaining bonuses.
- Inspiration: You have a chance to be inspired by using your special skills to create this recipe. This basically means that while crafting, you may be able to temporarily enhance your profession skill to produce higher quality items.
- wit: Chance to use less tradable reagents (e.g. ores). There’s not much to say about this. Using fewer crafting materials saves money and time on farming.
- Craft speed: Craft x% faster.
- Multicraft: You have the chance to craft additional items. Only works in stackable item recipes. This is especially useful for alchemists, as they have the potential to create multiple items for one cost.
Gatherers have slightly different occupational stats.
- Finesse: You have a chance to collect more primary reagents. The higher this status is, the more likely you are to receive additional materials.
- dexterity: Increases gathering speed. Always useful to cut down on farming time.
- Perception: Increases your ability to discover rare reagents while harvesting.
craft gear
Yes, it is craft gear, not created Equipment.Crafting gear is also new to Dragonflight, making it the primary source of occupation-specific stats. Tools and two accessories, all of which boost these stats. But don’t expect to be able to craft all your own craft gear. You may need help from other professions to get a complete set.
Equip crafting gear in these three slots and it will automatically equip your character every time you open the crafting window. For gatherers, switch to gear as soon as you start harvesting.
quality
craft quality
Many resources and materials in Dragonflight have a quality level, which directly affects the quality of the item being crafted. The higher the quality of equipment, the higher the item level. For consumables, it may mean they last longer or cost more.
There are several factors that affect the quality of the items you create. Skill level, quality of materials used, and optional reagents all affect results. Luckily, the quality progress bar in the UI means you can see the quality of the item you’re about to make, so you can decide whether to proceed.
For resources such as ores and herbs, the higher the gathering skill level, the higher the chances of gathering high-quality materials. You can also choose a specialization that will help you create more quality resources.
Another great addition to the Dragonflight profession is the recreate item. This basically means you don’t have to wait for better quality materials or higher skill stats if you need an item now, as you can recreate it later for better results. , you won’t waste any materials even if you make it early.
Specialized field
Profession
The crafting specialization is nothing new to World of Warcraft, but it has been revamped and re-added to the Dragonflight profession. This is how they work. Each crafting profession has several different specializations that allow you to excel in certain areas. Taking blacksmithing as an example, you can choose to specialize in weapon smithing, which opens up a mini he talent he tree that provides bonuses and perks when crafting weapons. After choosing your specialty, professional knowledge Unlock nodes in the talent tree.
Specializations become available after unlocking 25 skill points in that profession, and each subsequent unlock becomes available at 50, 75, etc. So, while it’s possible to unlock all specialties in your chosen profession eventually, you’ll need to figure out what you want to focus on first and go from there.
How to acquire vocational knowledge
While traditional skill points are used to level up professions, Dragonflight expertise is also required to upgrade various nodes in the specialty tree. Each point of vocational knowledge you spend also adds to your overall skill level for that vocation. As you can imagine, it takes a fair amount and there are many different ways to acquire this knowledge.
The most reliable way to acquire professional knowledge is Daily quest Offered by Valdrakken’s expert trainers. You can also get knowledge Create a new recipe for the first time However, it cannot be used for subsequent crafting of the same item. This means that even if you don’t use the item you’re crafting, you should consider crafting it at least once every time you learn a new recipe. Gatherers always have a chance to gain Profession Knowledge. Mine nodes or harvest herbs.
craft order
craft order
Crafting Orders lets you order craftable items in an auction house-like interface. Items can be customized to your liking with reagents of your choice, but you can also have someone else make them and they also work for binding pick-up items. You can ask them to provide them, but this obviously costs extra bucks.
Crafters who receive these orders can get small hints for work and skill points by crafting items.
