Yesterday, Microsoft Gaming CEO and head of Xbox Phil Spencer announced that the company has entered into a 10-year deal to bring Activision’s Call of Duty series to the Nintendo platform.
If you’re wondering how exactly it works, Phil shares some insights In a new interview with The Washington PostApparently it could be a while before we get a CoD game on the Nintendo platform as work begins on the new platform rear Acquisition of Activision Blizzard is completed.
Once everything is finalized, all versions of Call of Duty (including the Nintendo version) will eventually launch at the same time. This is exactly what Phil had to say (Via Pure Xbox):
“I can imagine if [the deal] It may take some time to start the development work to make it happen… Once we get used to this rhythm, our plans are: [a Call of Duty game] It will launch on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, and will also be available on Nintendo at the same time. ”
Spencer was also asked about how series like Call of Duty would perform on Nintendo’s consoles, and Phil admitted that there was “definitely” work to be done and that it would be something like Minecraft. You mentioned how it differs from games, but “targeting multiple platforms” is something Xbox has a lot of experience with.
“Minecraft and Call of Duty are different games. But from how we bring the game to Nintendo, to how we run a development team that targets multiple platforms, it’s our experience.”
